Jets, Eagles to check out Temple tight end

Temple tight end Steve Maneri will meet with the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Jets this week, the 22-year-old told us during a recent podcast.

The 6’6”, 275-pound tight end caught 12 passes for 134 yards and two touchdowns in 2009. Maneri finished his four-year career at Temple with nine scores on only 38 total receptions.

One of the top-blocking tight ends in the country, Maneri is expected to be used primarily in pass protection at the next level. At 275 pounds, there is some talk of the senior bulking-up and possibly moving inside to play offensive tackle.

Not a bad player at all. He's got great size and really matured on and off the field during my time at Temple. I'd say he's better blocking, but then again we really didn't have anyone to throw him the ball during his 4 years at Temple. He's worth a look, but probably only in the late rounds or as an UDFA.

mentioned him a number of times....even said the Jets were looking closely at him...

hands down the premiere blocking TE in this draft and has the frame to develop into an OT down the road if a team wants to go that route...

as a pass catcher you get nothing from him more than eight yards off the LOS but you are not drafting him for his pass catching skills....

Temple also has a Huge 340LB DT prospect

We needto check him out Brandt had a write up on him did really well at the combine and at his Pro Day could be a steal in the 5th round. Sice we cut Lito do we now get our 4th rounder back as as there 5th?

Andre Neblett, but I'd like to see where he's 340lbs- he only runs about 304....

what about the idea of developing him into a LT ie Jason Peters... your thoughts of putting him on the PS and developing him for a yr or 2
