New Story: Jets Sign DB Isaiah Trufant

[B]FLORHAM PARK, NJ[/B] - The Jets have signed defensive back Isaiah Trufant to bolster a secondary that has been limping since the loss of defensive play caller Jim Leonhard.

Trufant (5'8", 170 pounds) was signed to the practice squad on December 8, 2010, but spent the 2010 season in the UFL for the Las Vegas Locomotives. He was named the league's Defensive Player of the Year after recording four interceptions. He has also played in the Arena Football League for the Spokane Shock (2006), the Kansas City Brigade (2007) and the Arizona Rattlers (07-09).

lowdown on Trufant...

1) he's closer to 5'5'' than 5'8''
2) was a star in the UFL (for what its' worth)..
3) brother of marcus trufant
4) evidently Rex loved what he saw from this guy the past couple of weeks on the practice squad- absolutely loved it...

someone said to me, "this is a great story" and i said, "yes- if he lasts more than three games on the active roster"....

can't tell you an effin thing about his skills....

No surprise here. Saw his parents and brother last week at the Seahawks Family holiday party, and they were all saying they expect to see him suit up in green and white. Good guy from a good family and is a hard worker.
