Ingram = Adalius Thomas 2.0
I was concerned about his lower body and if he had the ability to move
in space as an OLB. But after reviewing his performance at the Senior Bowl this week I'll be shocked if the Jets don't pick him if he's available at 16. His lower half is "chunky" but he moves better than he looks and the fact that he played DE, DT & OLB in college makes him a perfect fit. He is a replica of Thomas when Rex had him in BAL on top of that their size is almost identical, both are 6-2 and Ingram is 275 while Thomas was 270. I wonder who the DC was at S. Car. because he really made Ingram a ton of $$$ with the way he deployed him Last edited by KRL; 01-27-2012 at 11:25 AM. |

Seems like this has to be the guy if he makes it to 16.

Melvin Ingram, South Carolina (6-1 7/8, 276 pounds) Ingram couldn't be blocked in the Tuesday practice, as he showcased a complete arsenal of pass rush moves. He reminds me a lot of Pittsburgh Steelers star LaMarr Woodley, and is stout against the run. I see him as more of a 3-4 outside linebacker than a 4-3 defensive end
http://www.nfl.com/seniorbowl/story/...P11_hot_topics 12. Melvin Ingram, OLB, South Carolina: Athletic defender with speed and quickness. Ingram is capable of wreaking havoc off the edges and is the prototypical 3-4 outside linebacker. http://www.nfl.com/draft/story/09000...raft-big-board Evaluation: A strong, power-leverage rusher with good, functional core strength and intriguing athletic ability. Is light on his feet with fluid movement skill and loose hips. Despite limited starting experience, has been a very active producer in a rotational role and has the versatility to rush inside in nickel situations or potentially stand up as 3-4 outside linebacker in an aggressive, odd front such as that of the Steelers. Projects as a left defensive end for a 4-3 front and has starting-caliber NFL traits. Still could stand to mature and hone his instincts and stamina, but upside is undeniable. http://www.profootballweekly.com/pro...lvin-ingram-6/ Last edited by C Mart; 01-27-2012 at 11:39 AM. |

I think its time to do a re-vote on who everyone wants at the 16th. Seems like a lot of us are jumping on the ingram bandwagon.

Pace is getting old and slow. BT may be done. Maybin is still something of a project though I am optimistic on him. We really need an OLB bad and if we're not getting Mario then we need something in the draft. |

Ellis Johnson - current HC of Southern Mississippi Ellis Johnson is taking over the Southern Miss football program and the veteran defensive coordinator has big goals for the Golden Eagles: Lead them to a BCS game. . . . He has spent the past four years as defensive coordinator at South Carolina, . . . Johnson led a South Carolina defense that ranked fourth nationally in total yardage this season, giving up just 268 yards per game. In four seasons with the Gamecocks, Johnson's defense ranked in the Top 15 nationally in total yardage three times. |

by the time the combine and personal workout roll around, I bet Ingram rises on draft boards. who knows though? Jets need to take a havoc wreaker at OLB ... probably 2.

I dont know, I dont see him as a workout warrior. Guys like Nick Perry or Whitney Mercilus will most likely run faster than him and look better in shorts while Ingram showed what he can do in a different situation at the senior bowl. And that is propably a good thing for the Jets as we are looking for the best football player. Ingram is still a great athlete...

I like Ingram too but I think there is a decent chance he may be gone before 16.

Agree
I would happily take either of them at 16. Sadly, I was hoping that Ingram would still be there at 16. His Senior Bowl performance IMO has taken him off the board. I suspect he will be gone at 16. After that the OLB'ers fall to the next tier. it won't be popular, but I suspect if the Jets are going to go back to a true "ground and pound" 16 will be an OL |

Ingram would be awesome for the Jets, giving us flexibility and genuine threat to the qb flexing at various positions in the front 7
