LeGarrette Blount

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d...content_stream

According to the article, Blount could be let go soon ... although he has baggage / issues, would he have any value here? I ask mainly because so many people here are worried about our RB situation with Greene.

According to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, Blount racked up $15,000 in fines for tardiness in his first two weeks in Tampa, prompting general manager Mark Dominik and former head coach Raheem Morris to force the rookie to hire a car service to wake him up and transport him for the three miles to One Buc Place.

Stroud adds that Blount continued to rely upon the car service in 2011, but he occasionally caught up on his sleep in meeting rooms.
Don't think this is the type of player the Jets need right now

Guy is an absolute beast of a runner but he is undoubtedly a headcase... They normally don't figure it out but it's always possible they wake up a bit.

Yup a beast running at the same per yard number as Greene, just for a lot fewer yardage last season.

An absolute beast because he's on another team. A complete JAG if he were a Jets.

Maybe because he had 65 less carries.

He said yards per carry. Blount was at 4.2 for 781 yards. Green was 4.2 for 1054 in 2011. Usually average increases with fewer yards carried. Blount had a nice year in 2010 however.

Blount isn't the RB the Jets need. Him and Greene are not that different.

Benjamin Tate is available from Houston at the right price, IMO. He is more of the type of RB that should start the games for the Jets, and then Greene could come in and wear the defenses down further, like the TJ/Greene combo of 2009. That's what we need.

And a RT.

See bolded part, which is included in your quote:

Exactly.

Same per yard average...with a qualifier (for a lot fewer yardage).

He missed the carries. That was my point. Why are we arguing something so obvious?

contrary to the apparent popular opinion I'd love to bring Blount in at the right price...He's young and talented...Worth the risk so long as the Jets aren't investing heavily in him.

He's definitely talented but could be a major head case.

His play on the field certainly doesn't back up these reports off of it.

Guy's a tank and will run for over 1,000 yards a season with ease if given another opportunity to be the No.1 back. He'd immediately be the best back on the roster, due to Greene's lack of ability to get things going early on in the season. Imagine those two together? Bruises all over for the defense.

Personally, I've never seen the guy play.

All I know is what I read.

I'm not going to base an opinion solely on "stats" like some people seem to like to do. I like the eye test to go along with stats. But his stats aren't bad. Especially when you consider that Tampa Bay's OL is ranked in the 2nd half among NFL teams. Much worse than the Jets.

But his wacky behavior in college combined with his needing a car service to get to practice throws up all sorts of red flags.
