Alex Smith v. Sanchize - Support

Nobody will mistake either of them for future HOF'ers. Both are average at best. Why is Smith winning and Sanchize struggling?

RB's - Smith has Frank Gore and a decent backup to run the ball. Sanchize has S Green and Powell - Huge Advantage Niners
WR's - The Niners have invested picks and money in bringing in better WR's including Crabtree and Moss. The Jets - brought in Chaz. Advantage Niners
TE - Davis is better than anyone on the Jets roster. It's as simple as that.
OL - The Niners have bruisers who move the defense off the ball. With quick passes the norm, Smith has enough time to get rid of it most of the time. The Jets OL gets blown back into the backfield and can't protect Sanchize long enough for anyone to get open - Huge Advantage Niners

Bottom line, the Jets have surrounded their mediocre QB with below average talent at every position.

Bottom line our QB still can't hit a open receiver.

So all the Jets have to do is get a superior running game, two #1 receivers, a beast at TE, and a top notch defense along with a coach that might be the best in the league at getting the most out of his players on both sides of the ball.

Should be able to handle that in one offseason. Sanchez it is.

P.S. - the line did an excellent job today against one of the toughest front 7s in the game. Sanchez had all day in the pocket to find new ways to suck.

P.P.S - Smith still sucks, and if the 9ers don't win the SB in the next year or two they will be in the same situation as the Jets. You cannot settle for mediocre at the QB position and expect anything different for the entire team.

They weren't open often. When they were, they tossed it to the 9'ers after making the catch.

We've actually seen him hit open receivers many times. He doesn't complete many passes into tight coverage. Neither does Smith, but he rarely has to. Harbaugh has also coached Smith to take sacks rather than force passes. The 49ers can do this because they have a real shut down defense and Andy Smith is one of the 2 best punters in the league.

Sanchez would look like a completely different player if the running game was getting 5.5 yards per carry.

Smith would look like a completely different player if the running game was getting 3.1 yards per carry.

The 49ers believe in Smith so much that they tried to replace him in the offseason.

This is the NFL ,no receiver is going to be open often.NFL QB put it where there wr is going to be with timing, accuracy and location. Sanchez has none of that . His long ball lacks and short passes lack as well. Decision making has regressed again and ball security is still at rookie level. Are his wideouts great, of course not. But the kind of production this offense makes the problem is not squarely on the wr.

I disagree , other then short passes I haven't seen Sanchez hit many open receivers. It's been half . I have seen them make some crucial drops and also I have seen some bad passes as well.

Sanchez has missed +/- 6 wide open receivers in or near the end zone in the last two games that I can think of, not including today (I didn't see- I was traveling- but with 103 yards I'll take a guess today also).

I mean, how do you even attempt to defend this?

It's Harbaugh.

We need a coach who knows how to handle an offense and coach a quarterback.

Who also knows how to motivate his team and is a good in game manager. Four years and our coach has no idea when to use his damn timeouts.

good defensive cord. move around to different teams all the time.

Because when Smith makes a mistake, he overthrows a receiver. When Sanchez make a mistake, he turns the ball over.

Today was actually a great example of how far Sanchez has to go just to be a mediocre QB. Smith certainly didn't play well, but he also didn't have any turnovers, and so he didn't hurt his team. All the Jets generally need from Sanchez is for him not to turn the ball over, and he's not capable of that.

Rather than argue whether Sanchez is really Suckchez in the other threads, Im trying to figure out why he is struggling. I truly believe we dont have playmakers in this offense.
Schillens a young guy with talent, but if was really good he would't be on the Jets (Raiders would have kept him). Holmes is to short to be a big time receiver and can have the case of the dropseys. Kerley can shine once in a while but he lacks speed to take it to the house and Im thinking most times he can be covered easily because of lack of speed.

Worst of all is the running game.We have no running game. This forces Jets to pass with below average WR corp, which equals recipe for disaster.

I thought the line played well but Mark kept waiting, and waiting for someone to get open. Some might say he holds the ball to long, but what do you want him to do throw it in the ground. You will definately get a lot more 3 n outs that way.

That wasn't enough against the Steelers.

Not turning it over was enough, most of the time, in 2009 and 2010, but the team isn't good enough for that to work anymore. Sanchez has to put points on the board because no one else on the offense is capable of doing so.

It wasn't always this way. In 2009 and 2010, our OL entered the "zone". They blew people off the ball and made for some very impressive RB play.

Not saying this isn't the truth now, but most everything that you post has been better in the past. They gave Sanchez all the weapons he needed to succeed and more. Unfortunately, now, whether you choose to think it was poor GMing or just bad luck this Jets team just isn't as good as it was in 2010. We needed Sanchez to step up. We needed him to grow up.

Unfortunately, the Jets were wrong in thinking that was going to happen also. Sanchez followed the rest of the team right down the toilet.

And lets not blame all of this on the surrounding cast. As many have pointed out, there were several passes that should have been bunnies. Sanchez just had horrible accuracy.

At this point, I feel confident in saying that Sanchez played as well as the rest of the team over the last two seasons. They sucked and so did Sanchez.

It's time to rebuild and I think it starts with the most important position on the field - the QB.

Smith is nothing more than average at best and if he ever has to win them a game he will probably fail, just like sanchex when he built his career on the back os a great D, oline and running game. The jets biggest fail was going after a young Qb in the 1st place when they talked about winning now. They should never have drafted sanchez but gone after a vet game manager who was a vet.

If they wanted tp draft a young qb they had to go all in and build a pass happy team. Just bad strategy.

I completely agree with you. The Dolphins are letting Tannehill throw it 40 times per game, interceptions and all. Threw 3 picks his first game, they never tried to simplify the offense or put him on a leash. They're letting him throw his way through it. They're losing now, but it will pay off down the road.

Sanchez played great in his first game his rookie year. We come out the next week and throw 5 passes in the first half against the Patriots. We squeaked out some wins playing that way, but it's coming back to bite us now.

Today confirmed that Alex Smith is indeed a mediocre QB. Unfortunately, Sanchez is a bad one.

This argument doesn't work anymore..here's an example

I just watched Ryan Tannehill who has as his weapons Bess,Hartline,Fasano,Nennee, throw for over 400 yards on a real tough defense,on the road in his fourth start.

With the exception of Bush his skill players are pretty sorry and he puts up those numbers.

It took a while but I am done with Sanchez. He is what he is.The fact an NFLQB can't complete 50 percent of his passes is just a disgrace.

Hell Tebow sucks as well, but the switch needs to be made,Can't be any worse than what we have now
