Jets RB Bilal Powell dislocates shoulder, will have MRI Monday

Bilal Powell suffered a dislocated shoulder and will receive an MRI to determine the severity of the injury Monday, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. That person requested anonymity because the Jets did not make injury news public.

Powell spoke briefly post game with his right shoulder in a sling but would not provide any specifics.

Joe McKnight, who ripped off a 61-yard run in the third quarter setting up Shonn Greene’s second touchdown, was also injured, leaving the game after that play with an ankle injury.
McKnight will take an MRI Monday as well, though he said he expects to be at practice by Wednesday.

C Nick Mangold (ankle) said he felt fine and that sitting out during the waning minutes of the game was merely a precaution.

TE Dustin Keller (hamstring), who missed the previous four weeks with the injury and WR Stephen Hill (hamstring) who missed the last two, both said their hamstrings felt fine after testing them today.

"I felt good," Keller said. "It felt good to finally get out there, get to hit a little bit, puff your pads. It felt really good."

* * * *

• Rookies Quinton Coples and Antonio Allen recorded their first career sacks Sunday. For Allen, who got significant playing time after filling in for Eric Smith, it was his goal to tally one in his NFL debut.

Coples, who registered his first sack after five weeks of ups and downs, was relieved.
“Good things happen when you trust your coaches and you trust the game plan,” Coples said. “It feels great.”

• WR Jason Hill, who was acquired when Santonio Holmes was lost to a knee injury, scored his first touchdown with the Jets Sunday in the second quarter. He did a hopscotch dance which, he said, was a tribute to his 4-year-old son Jason who plays hopscotch at school.

• QB Greg McElroy, RB Jonathan Grimes, NT Kenrick Ellis, NT Sione Po’uha, WR Clyde Gates, FB John Conner and Smith were inactive Sunday.

Good to see the return of Keller even though he was for the most part invisible.
