Figures...regarding Landry
The one stud player who actually earned his paycheck this season is not signed. Typical Jets luck.

Luck has nothing to do with it.
Landry was on the soon-to-be-out-of-the-League train due to endless injuries and dissapointment. We gave him a shot, because he was cheap and available. Shots like that are almost always one-year-deals. If any criticism exists, it's that Tanny didn't see the future, and try and get him to sign an extention early in this season. But then again, Landy could then have got hurt (as he always has) the very next day, and we'd be here *****ing about that too. Anyone signing Landry next year, us or others, is taking a big risk. He can be very good, but he's also an egg that will break again at some point. |

I like Landry, and I wish he would be a Jet next year, but it's probably not happening. He will cost too much, and ultimately, if the Jets can upgrade their OLB position, the Safety position doesn't have to be elite level players.
If the Jets can grab a legit pass rusher at OLB and upgrade the speed and athleticism at the other OLB position, their safety position can be a pair of average NFL starters and our Defense would be just fine. The safety position can't revert back to the likes of Eric Smith and Jim Leonhard though. |

Fish is 50% correct not 100%. Landry did great and deserves to be paid; however, we may not be able to afford him with our Cap situation. In the larger context of best bang for the buck solutions for the team, he may or may not fit in.
BTW, anybody who calls someone else a moron has serious issues IMO |

There's so many ?'s on this team I wouldn't even know where to start. I'd like to get Landry back but he's at that point in his career where he's going to want the last significant deal he can get. He knows it, and that's why he said a home town discount wasn't going to happen. I guess you can't blame him.

They should carve out his salary from Revis's. When you have someone like him tackling, it lessens the need for that shutdown corner.

I don't know what will happen with this team during the offseason, but I do know the Jets should try to sign LaRon Landry. Guys like Mike Devito (soft spoken, blue collar, hard working guy), LaRon Landry (insanely strong, owns the middle, true enforcer), these are the guys that the team must resign.
Guys like Landry and Devito can be the footprint for the defense. |

Um, hes a very good player but hes not exactly the best tackler. He missed numerous tackles over the course of the season, which is bound to happen with big hitters. I think his range at safety and ability to cover tight ends is much more valuable to the Jets.
