If thats true John Idzik has already lost all of my respect as a person and as a GM.
Taking over as a GM and then giving away your best Player / employee is the dumbest thing you can do. |

Revis is 100% gone. We knew this a while ago. Anyone thinking he will be on the opening day roster is just wishful thinking. This team knows it's not winning in the next 2 years. So at this point you either give a CB 100 million, risk losing him for nothing or trade him to help acquire and afford a new QB, RB, OLB, OL(all more important positions).
There are reasons why nobody on the Jets have contacted Revis or his agents. Our best player is upset and nobody is trying to calm him. Why? 1. Revis is going to be traded and Idzik is keeping this as quiet as possible so he doesnt hurt any leverage. 2. Revis is extremely frustrated. Idzik is a professional, if Revis was going to be on this team he would have been called and talked too by now. Last edited by LockeJET; 02-27-2013 at 06:56 AM. |

What do you want him to do? Just ask woody to sign a 40 mill check along with a 6 year 15 mill a year contract. If Revis play drops off like Dion Sanders did when he was 30 and the jets are still on the hook for what will likely be cap hits of 17 mill how will you feel then? The guy is doing due diligence. |

Here's hoping that GS3 under center, and Coples on
the edge works out.

If they have to wait until summer that's just as much risk for the Jets, if not more. What does actively shopping mean anyway? Was he holding an auction? What ever it means he should be doing it. Lets get some bidding wars going for the teams with GMs like 54lb that want to pay a corner 16mil per year.

Do what's best for the team... I'd like to keep Revis but if a better deal comes along that improves the team then so be it.
Remember he's coming off an injury and the Jets backfield held up ok in his absence. Sometimes you have to strike while the iron's hot... |

Lets see: Revis has already held out twice and now he's missed almost a whole season because of injury. What do you want Idzik to do - go ahead and give Revis 100 mil over the next 6 seasons and cripple the Jets from getting any other players. Nothing like paying a CB that kind of money to finish 6-10 the next 6 seasons. Either Revis takes maybe 10 mil a season or trade him. Its on Revis and his greedy agents not the Jets. The Jets know what they can and will pay him. If Revis wont play for that amount then its on Revis.

Love Revis as a player. Hate him as a person. Couldn't care less about him going to the hall and couldn't care less about him being the "bestest corner ever!!" if it costs us 16mil a year. I will never ever understand why some of the people here try and argue that we should give that to him. Wouldn't sign him for anything more than 10-12mil per year. |

the majority are correct this time...
Fortunately the Jets no longer have Mr Softie as their GM ready to cave to whatever Uncle Sean and Mevis' other gang of shysters demand for their seriously injured commodity. Sorry boys, your buddy, Mr Mikey is gone. And, it looks like the new sheriff in town is not prepared to bend over and accede to your demands. Hopefully, we can find somebody willing to buy his reputation for a draft pick or picks and not his current status of probably not being able to play much or well in 2013 Lets not make the Asomugha mistake that Philly made and vastly overpay Mevis based on reputation and discover we have another -- Interception Machine or Harris type destructive contract on our hands |

Idzik is playing this perfectly. He's showing the Revis camp that he's in control and that he will get to them when he's ready. He'll go to Revis with a fair deal for both sides. Something like 5 years 12 mil/per. If revis don't want it, he's going to get traded. Simple as that. No hard feelings.

It's called due diligence. I have no problem with it at all. Nor should anyone who roots for the green and white. If Idzik can make a big move by moving a player who has proved time and time again its about "me" not "us". Then DO IT! If you can get two high picks that can turn into ten year starters for the team yes. I however would not move him based only on money.

If the Jets give Revis what he wants (to be the highest paid defensive player in the history of the sport) he will be 30 years old before the kickoff of the 2015 season and will be making franchise QB money. The team will most likely be on the hook for paying that salary until he is 32 or 33. Not a smart move. If the Jets can parlay Revis into a first round pick in 2014 then they will have an excellent chance to draft a potential franchise QB in a draft that could have two. That is how you build a franchise for the future. Not by paying a CB franchise QB money until he is 32 or 33.

Idzik is trying to improve the mess on the Jets and you "lose all respect" for him because he is trying to unload a poison and make the Jets a better football team?
