This should be a fun offseason.

I have a sick feeling in my stomach that Andy Pettitte is going to be named. His name did surface when Jason Grimsley got nabbed. And from what I've been hearing alot of the names will come from that same investigation.

Pettite's always had that lingering I think.

Before '99 (when Clemens joined the team) the guy was pitching like 88-89 and topping out at 91.

Suddenly he's pitching at 91-92 and hitting 94. K's jumped up and all that good stuff.

Funny thing is, nagging injuries started hitting him then. The stiff elbow thing started way back then I think.

It will hurt pretty hard if Andy is named. Bernie, Jeter, Rivera, O'Neill... it would hurt real bad.

Jeter and Rivera would be the two worst and most surprising ones. Pettitte wouldn't surprise me, and could be a reason why he wants more time.

Same old PED story
posted: Thursday, November 8, 2007 | Feedback | Print Entry

In the midst of all the Hot Stove Leaguing, this week's revelation about Matt Williams led Tim Kawakami to a a revelation of his own:

There is no other conclusion worth making, even for the true believers: Baseball was dirty from top to bottom in the 1990s and early 2000s, period, end of innocence.

Nice guys, bad guys, nobodies, superstars, pitchers, executives, everybody. Everybody either was using performance-enhancers or thought about using or knew people who were using and stayed silent about it.

EVERYBODY!

Quite conveniently, George Mitchell's report on baseball's performance-enhancing drug problem is expected to be released by the end of the year or sooner. I would want more specifics, but I'd applaud Mitchell's document if it included only this single statement: The game was unclean, all of it, let's not try pretending otherwise.

Agreed. Let's not.

I haven't written about this stuff much, because there's never much real news. It's the same story again and again; only the names change. But I'm often asked about the mess by radio hosts, and lately I've been supplying this all-purpose comment: "There's not a single name that would surprise me. Not one. You make a list of 10 players you're sure never did anything against MLB's rules or against the law, and I'll bet you that -- if we ever have perfect knowledge -- we'll discover that at least three of them cheated.

Which of course leads to a big question: If everybody was doing it, was it really so wrong? This is not a rhetorical question. I really want to know.

I hope this is not the reason Pettitte needed more time to decide... waiting to see if he's on the list

Roidger isnt on my team. It was more to poke fun then anything else and if Roidger is on that list, it shouldnt be a surprise to anyone.

I know Clemens is not on your team.

That's why I wrote what i wrote.

And, come on, give me a break...you are dying for Clemens to be on that list...so you do care deeply.

Me die for Clemens to be on that list?

The only person on the yankee who I would love to see be on that list is Derek Je-tah.

Trust me, I wouldnt die for anything involving Clemens, unless its Kellen

That's not so bad. Brooklyn Bound hoped that Derek Je-tah died in the Cory Lidle crash.
