Field trip for Miami crew...Faber to fight at the Hard Rock on Sept 10th

Faber vs Brown Signed for WEC 36
By Damon Martin/MMAWeekly.com

World Extreme Cagefighting featherweight champion Urijah Faber will face his next challenge on Sept. 10 when the “California Kid” takes on American Top Team fighter and No. 1 contender Mike Brown in Hollywood, Fla. The bout was confirmed to MMAWeekly.com by sources close to the fight and both fighters have signed their bout agreements.

Since returning to the WEC in January 2007, Faber has been on an unbelievable run as featherweight champion. He has dispatched of all competitors including several Top 10 level challengers.

Most recently, he faced his toughest fight yet, against former Ultimate Fighting Championship lightweight titleholder Jens Pulver. Faber looked strong, pulling out a unanimous decision after a five-round war.

Many would argue that he is now facing the toughest challenge of his career when he steps in against UFC and Bodog veteran Mike Brown.

Brown has competed at both 155 and 145 pounds, but in the featherweight division it seems that he has finally found his home.

Debuting with the WEC in June, Brown picked up a unanimous decision win over perennial Top 10 featherweight Jeff Curran, and now he gets his shot at Faber for the 145-pound divisional title.

The fight is currently slated to take place in Hollywood, just a jump away from where Brown trains at American Top Team, so the challenger will likely have a good support system in the crowd come fight night.

Faber vs. Brown will headline the WEC 36 along with a middleweight title fight between champion Paulo Filho and Chael Sonnen.
