Time to fix the problem!

This is tough to say, but the government and business has become so corrupt it is time to let it fail and start all over again. We can spend trillions on upon trillions of dollars and we will not fix the problem. The problem is government, business and us because of greed and entitlements and a government that doesn't know the word NO!

No its going back to capitalism... the free market which at one time made it country the most rich and prosperous on the planet. We haven't had true capitalism since the 1913 (with the creation of the Federal Reserve) and since then we have been on a boom and bust business cycle (which Keynesian economists aka Ben Bernanke/Alan Greenspan falsely say in natural) made worse by the entitlements of FDR, the breaking of the Bretton Woods agreement in 1972, and the HMO Act of 1973.

Sometimes one has to hit rockbottom and then lift themselves up. Throwing more money at this will not fix it it will prolong it!

Sounds like a comprehensive and well thought solution.

Care to elaborate how to implement?

Tremendous amounts of natural resources, an easily conquered indigenous people and two giant oceans between us and any credible threat had nothing to do with it?

Brilliant.

Blame the politicians. They just did what we (the majority of voters) wanted them to do. No politician was saying balance the budget at any cost.

Why?

If they did they would not get any votes and be an ex-politician.

Nobody wanted to cut spending, nobody wanted to raise taxes. Everyone wanted to print more money, make easy credit. It is what solved the bubble after 911.

No it didn't... its wonderful (and not so wonderful for the natives) that we had these things but they did not make America the greatest and most properous nation on the planet. Look at Japan, they have barely any natural resources, had theirs cities burned to the ground during World War II, and are a hop and a skip from China yet they were able to turn their economy in one of the most robust and technologically advanced in 30 years by embracing the ideals of capitalism.

Wealth has nothing to do with resources or safety unless you have people who are willing to trade because without trade and productivity (which are maximized in capitalism) there are no increases in wealth for a nation. Ever read Adam Smith?

So if you are correct the true flaw in this country is the method of electing our public servants (democracy) and not the free exchange of goods and services (capitalism). Interesting, I would probably agree.

How authoritarian is Zimbabwe's government? They force all of the white farmers to give up their land to the government.

Sure 9/11 had allot to do with this but so did Fannie and Freddie. The Government was warned by Bush and McCain a decade ago and nobody did anything. This is what started the collapse of our system believe it or not!

Cut the spending, if companies fail let them fail(big three) we cannot bail out everyone. We are spending Billions and what has changed? NOTHING. For all the supposed smart people in Wasington I would rather have a bunch of hard working business people run the country. You know someone with common sense!

First...THEY ARE THE GOVERNMENT.

Second, oh no! Why did not anybody listen to the great oracles of McCain and Bush?? They were always so right about everything!! But nobody listened. Oh Bushy. Oh McCainy. Why oh why?!?

Third...Bush and McCain combined are dumber than a post. One is a pretend cowboy from New Haven and the other is a walking Flomaxx commercial/worlds worst pilot
