OTTAWA (AP) -- Jacques Martin was fired as coach of the Ottawa Senators on Thursday, two days after his team was eliminated by Toronto in the first round of the playoffs.

Martin had been behind Ottawa's bench for 8 1/2 seasons, making him the league's longest-serving coach.

This is the most disappointing team-I think that the last couple of playoff losses will make them realize Lalime is not the goalie that will win you a Cup. Also pretty weak in not being physical enough to outwork the other team.

I've always said they don't have enough grit on that team. Too many europeans. B)
