This leads to a velvety-textured, medium-bodied Pinot with ample sweet fruit, good depth, and a fruit-filled finish. It lacks only complexity. Drink this pleasurable wine over the next 4-5 years. Domaine Serene has turned out its most successful set of Pinot Noirs in several vintages. According to the Wine Spectator: Supple, ripe and generous with its plum, blueberry and creme brulee flavors, nicely draped with refined tannins, which persist on the focused finish. Drink now through 2014.

Just kidding Conk.

From Oregon I enjoy Foris.

Try Sancerre and shellfish. Sancerres run about $25, so for economical purposes I'll usually go with a bone dry portugese white, but Sancerre is just perfect.

My parents have a house on the north fork and we hit up the vineyards all summer. The BEST chardonnay of any of the vineyards is called Regina Maris at Osprey's Dominion. Buttery, smoky and rich, like a real chardonnay should be.

No grapes, that's WAY too much work.

We started making beer a few months ago and we buy all our hops, malt, yeast, etc from this incredible beer and wine emporium in Clifton NJ.

http://www.corradosmarket.com/home/store-wine.html

After visiting the place 4 or 5 times to make some home brews (outstanding beer, btw), the Beer/Wine making Savant there suggested we try our hand at wine.

So we bought buckets of the juice, threw in some yeast, put it in some car-boys and let it sit for a few months, bottled it and now we are about to reap that harvest.

Here's the wine in the car-boys. Jetswin made fun of me, so he's not invited to the wine tasting

Four Vines Zinfandel
THe Sophisticate
Sonoma County

(92 in Wine Spectator. Yes, they got that one right)

If you can still find that vintage, it's an excellent robust red.

Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc out of New Zealand is very good year to year.

my favorite wine was a Jewish chick I dated hot and heavy about 20 years ago.....at the end of our relationship she became a type of sour wine....and it was wine, wine, wine all the time....

it affirmed my commitment to only drink beer...

Only today did I realize the seriousness of the sanctity of the power rankings as far as that particular power ranking thread goes. There is only one power rankings in that thread. As I found out. As did FF2@

If I could drink only one wine for the rest of my life, it would be Champagne. And it would be produced by this man, Henri Billiot.

Billiot is a small producer, and all his wines are made from 100% Grand Cru vines. Of course the millésime are spectacular, but the non-vintage Champagnes are superlative as well. Next time you have a special occasion with your wife, hunt down a bottle of H. Billiot Fils Champagne N.V. Rose. Not only delicious and complex, but festive and beautiful in the glass. If you can't find Billiot, amazing Champagnes are also made by another small producer, Egly-Ouriet.

Another excellent champagne, though pricy, is Ruinart. I don’t really have a nose for champagne, or wine for that matter. It’s either good, bad, or excellent. And Ruinart is the bomb.

As for wine, I don’t do anything too original:
Timmy got me into Spanish wines. Basic stuff like Sangre de Toro does it for me.

Another favorite is Mouton Cadet.

Thanks, Raoul. I have enjoyed their wines as well. They are one of the best of the larger producers. I also enjoy N.V. Champagne made by Nicolas Feuillatte because of its toasty nose and crisp fruit taste. If you want an awesome buy (About $8.00 in my area.) in French sparkling wine rather than Champagne, try Marquis de la Tour from the Loire. I have served it at parties and folks swore it was Champagne.
