This guy is awesome. I think he's the next Derrick Brooks if he's in the right system.

Very Good and Very Versatile linebacker ... emotional linebacker in the Brian Cox mold ... linebacker with a linebackers mentality {too many linebackers DON'T have a linebackers mentality} ... it was a nice signing for this team

Barton was one of the Raiders' few YOUNG brightspots.

Why'd he fly so low on the UFA radar?

I thought he would have made a lot more noise and been snatched up quicker in free agency. Quite a steal for Terry.

Yeah he was pretty much the best linebacker the free agent class had to offer. (Gold and Emmons were both coming off injuries) Good signing by Terry

he was a big part of teh superbowl run in '02

watch him against us in the playoffs, the kid can play and will be more like his '02 form now that he has support around him unlike ast year

I just hope the new breed rub off on Cowart, who may have been damaged by being around Mo and Marvin all season.

One thing this defense has been missing for a long time is players playing with intensity and passion-part of this I think was the influence of Cottrell and Edwards. Barton is the type that will play with intensity -last year was a lost year for the Raiders-with us I expect him to step back up and show that this was an excellent signing.

barton has a nice combination of speed, passion, and takling. right now, considering vilma has not played a real down of football, barton is the best backer on the team.
