That was an amazing piece by Ebert. I had no idea of his condition - I'm wondering if others similarly afflicted just said "To Hell with it, this is no way to live", and just ended it all. Most likely. I know it would cross my mind.

I never really appreciated sunrises or sunsets until recently - my brother's passing probably had something to do with that.

My dad couldn't eat near the end.
He made me promise to stop at his favorite Roast Beef sanchwich shop everytime I left and have one "for him." He loved me sneaking him in Mountain Dew and Dunkin Donuts coffee. Simple pleaseures. Also when he was sick, on Letterman, Warren Zevon's advice to everyone one was: "Enjoy that sandwich." INDEED. |

He died the night before they were going to put a feeding tube in him. |
