Jets also sign G/T Michael Turkovich

Per Rod Boone twitter:

also added free agent G/T Michael Turkovich. He was undrafted and signed by Dallas in 09, suffered a knee injury in TC and was waived.

so, so far we've managed to use two of our precious free agent signings on a bum kicker, when we already have a decent kicker we should be trying to re sign, and a 3rd string offensive tackle who went undrafted and suffered a season ending injury in training camp for some other team.

apparently this is the best we can do, lmfao

What do you mean these "precious" FA signings? This is standard operating procedure every offseason. These 2 signings don't have anything to do with the "final 4" UFA rules. These are called filling out a roster for training camp. If these two even make it to training camp.

Apparently, you don't know what you are talking about.

It's way to early to look at any of these signings as anything but teams window shopping. The real deal won't start until the draft gets closer.

These guys don't count in the whole "Final 4" restrictions. These guys are street free agents, as they were cut / waived from their previous team. We can sign as many of these as we want. What we are limited in signing is guys who are UFA's, where they had a a contract last year and it has now expired.

correct

once a player is released by a team, they are no longer a UFA.

LT and Byron Westbrook, for example, can be signed by any of the final 4 teams since they are no longer UFA's.

we can sign both of them if we want to and any other players who have been cut by another team and are no longer on an NFL roster

ty.

nobody ever made a distinction between signing free agents in late February and signing free agents in March and after, vis-a-vis the new final 4 free agent rules. so as far as i knew a free agent signing means a free agent signing, and it seemed like these 2 would count towards ours. fortunately that isn't the case, i'm glad that's cleared up!
