The Super Bowl should NOT be at the Meadowlands - ever.
The game was intended to be played under favorable conditions. For both attendees as well as players. That means warm weather or dome. How was this February in the NYC area? Few Jet/Giant fans will get to go anyway. If you're going to an event why not go to a Miami/NO/Tampa etc. More fun. Why are 90% of college bowls in the nice areas. Why not have the game at the Patriots or the Packers. Wash, Philly? No way.
Who gives a sh*t about the attendees? Bunch of soft candy ass corporate types, half the crowd is only there because it's an "event". Let them stay home and maybe some real football fans can get in and enjoy football the way it was meant to be played. The Ice Bowl wasn't played under favorable conditions but it's remembered as one of the greatest games ever played, four decades later. Again, who gives a flying sh*t about college bowls? Why not have the game at those other cold locations? Because this is the NEW YORK CITY area, that's why. End of story. |

End of story.
The LEAGUE cares about the attendees. The LEAGUE wants a game devoid of cold and snow. The LEAGUE calls the shots. There are FEW real football fans at a SB. Certainly far less than an AFC or NFC championship game. The ICE BOWL had nothing to do whatever with the SB. BTW it was a lousy crap game. Memorable for being a lousy crap and a poorly played game BY BOTH TEAMS. College bowls are generally better attended than the SB, by the way. Check the attendance figures. They are a lot more fun and better games most of the time. Who cares about the NYC area. You have 290 million other Americans who think the area sucks. Take a poll of where fans woulds want the game. It ain't NY. If NY is such a big deal how come they can't get a college bowl? If Woody and Mara wanted a SB they should have added a retractable roof. That's why Jerry Jones is a better owner than the Jets or Giants have. It's called smart, not cheap. If a cold weather site gets a shot - why not Pittsburgh. An infinitely better franchise than the Jets or Giants. One of the originals. They have a relatively new stadium as well. Enough homerism already. You have to look at the entire picture of the league. 32 teams. If it's not strictly warm weather, than each of the teams should get a shot. 32 year rotation. Never happen. |
Actually, NY will have a college bowl. The New Era Pinstripe Bowl will be played in Yankee Stadium. I believe it is a 3 or 4 year initial commitment. |

I'd rather the Jets WIN the Superbowl, than host it.

It would be dumb to have a super bowl at an outdoor stadium where it could snow.

I read that - like the #4 Big East team versus the #6 Big 12 team. Not exactly the Sugar Bowl. The Steinbrenner family has to do something with the new Stadium. But nothing at the Meadowlands or frankly any other "Northern" stadium. It's not just NY it's the cold areas generally. Nothing in Chi or Cleve or Phil or Wash. |
When the Giants and Jets have to make their SB presentation to the owners I hope Woody pulls a Hollywood Hogan.
Woody turns on his co-presenter Jon Tisch, hitting him with a chair and declaring that the Jets are against any SB at the new stadium. Then we can have Jim Ross screaming, "NO!!! NO!!! WHAT HAS WOODY DONE??? NO!!!"
haha great reference |
