Nerd call please...(this differs slightly from a "booty call", but is the same concept).
www.newyorkjets.com just published a good summary on DL available in the upcoming draft. Since we WILL be picking a DL in Round #1, lets talk about the talent left at pick #29 as described in this new article. Can someone copy & paste it here? Thanks in advance...B. |

Clearly you are correct in your inference to the 4th LB, the pass-rushing, fast-moving, pressure-the-QB OLB we sought when we drafted both Bryan Thomas & Goulston. Now here is the big question...are those two (combined) adequate enough for us for now to focus on REAL needs, or do we grab a third one just like them, but (hopefully) better. Its a tough call. Especially when there really could be some major beef left around at pick #29 on both DE & NT. Also keep in mind that Kris Jenkins is coming off of a MAJOR injury. He aint runnin' windsprints right now. Its only 3 months till camp opens... my GUESS is that the true answer to your question is, in fact, just NT & DE. Thats what I think Tanny will do. You wont see us go after the 6'1' 260 lb OLB/pass-rusher type. Our pick in Rd 1 will be the 6'5" 290 lb type. |

Reach and bulk him up for a DE role? Reach further for Houston? Ick.

i believe this to be a raging debate within the jets org. i also agree with you that in the end, the higher priority will be finding an ellis replacement, but still, i could see them doing this in round 2 as there will still be guys available. |

Bryan Thomas was great last season, people forget how solid he's been, in this scheme he's done everything asked of him including playing DE and NT at times, no OLB is coming in and starting over Thomas this year. |
