Kiper's Latest Mock (4/16)
http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/draft...ory?id=5080622
A little different format. I guess I'm not the only one who likes taking Shipley with the 61st pick -- although I don't feel as strongly about that now that we have Holmes. A couple of other notes, he has McCourty going to the Bucs with their 42nd pick and Joseph going to the Pats with their 53rd pick. Considering these are the two guys I want most, I'm really starting to hope that we can trade back into the early part of the second round. Hopefully someone will want to use our pick for Tebow or Colt McCoy. He also had Nate Allen lasting until the 59th pick (Cowboys) and Damien Williams until the 72nd (Bills), both of which I found surprising. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- New York Jets Top needs: OLB, DE, FS, WR, CB, OL, PK First round (29): DE Everson Griffen Second round (61): WR Jordan Shipley Third round: No third-round picks Fourth round (124): CB Terrence Johnson Summary: Griffen has a chance to be a terror in the Rex Ryan system. He has great size mixed with superior athleticism, and most importantly, his best days are ahead of him. Think Terrell Suggs and Adalius Thomas. Ryan can do similar things with Griffen. Shipley is a sure-handed slot target whom Mark Sanchez should grow to depend on in the way Colt McCoy did. I like Johnson for CB depth behind Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie. He's a sleeper. |

No Shipley please. I really want the focus to be defense. Griffen to the Jets is being seen alot as of late. I was not a fan but if Rex and co. think he is the guy than so be it. But he makes me nervous. He could flourish under Rex though.

I'd take him in a second. He's physical and can run for being a big man. Shipley no thanks though.. People always love their white receivers but the guy isn't especially good at anything. Not overly fast and certainly not quick like guys such as Chrebet and Welker. Different type of receiver. |

Mel Kiper ends up being as right as a weatherman. Draft prognosticating is the biggest waste of time. How he gets paid for it, I have no idea.

I laugh at all mock drafts that don't have 1 trade in them. When was the last time a 1st round happened without 1 trade? or 2 trades? |

Griffen would play 3-4 OLB rusher. He's got 17 sacks in 3 years... and crazy talent. He's a truer fit for the position in this defense than Jerry Hughes. The Jets dont have any 250 pound 3-4 OLBs but they do have 3 guys in the 270 pound range. people can complain he can't cover but Brandon Graham can't cover either. These guys would basically be 1 down specialists in this defense at first.
