Another of my "old school" favorites is Clark Terry, who I also had the privilege of seeing live. Here he is with one of the true masters of the craft, Count Basie (approx. :59 in video). Man, these guys could swing.
Check out this flugelhorn work. |

Another Clark Terry fan here. I got "Live At The Village Gate" a long time ago and loved it - such a great album. I'm particularly fond of "Brushes And Brass" but there's nothing on Youtube for that tune.

Reminds me of two BASS players that would bow their solos and sing the same melody at the same time. Major Holly and George Duvivier. Dig Ray Brown on the OP piece. |

Stumbled upon Buddy's infamous lambasting of his band while on the tour bus. I haven't heard this in years. It's an absolute classic.

Any recommendations for newbie jazz-head?
And whats the difference between 'Jazz' and 'Smooth Jazz'? Other than the latter being played in dentists' offices? |

I'm a huge jazz fan, all styles. Here's one on the more adventurous side.
