Another of my "old school" favorites is Clark Terry, who I also had the privilege of seeing live. Here he is with one of the true masters of the craft, Count Basie (approx. :59 in video). Man, these guys could swing.

Yeah man...Clark Terry rocks. Never saw him live but I saw a piece where he scat sings his solo. Simply incedible talent. In a "mellow tone" on flugel horn...pretty kool.

Another Clark Terry fan here. I got "Live At The Village Gate" a long time ago and loved it - such a great album. I'm particularly fond of "Brushes And Brass" but there's nothing on Youtube for that tune.

Stumbled upon Buddy's infamous lambasting of his band while on the tour bus. I haven't heard this in years. It's an absolute classic.

Start with Miles Davis "Kind Of Blue" (in the category of "cool jazz"). If you don't dig the ever-loving sh*t out of it and feel like you're the coolest motherf*cker in the world while you're listening to it, jump out the window cuz you're hopeless.
