Good news, of course, as it signals the return of Santonio Holmes.

Clowney is un-needed, he is a poor specials player, and a weak depth-only WR.

WR #1 Edwards
WR #2 Holmes
WR #3 Cotchery
WR #4 Smith
WR #5 Keller (TE)
WR #6 L.T. (RB)

Thats a lot of pass-catching talent, as it is, more than most teams can boast. And thats if the other gaggle of TE's we have never do anything, pass-catching-wise (why is it always TE's with us? lol.)

If someone gets hurt, we can grab any number of practice squad or street-freeagent ball-catchers to be the 6th most-played receiver on our team. Till then, no worries, we're deep enough at ball catcher.
big loss, not sure about this move, both are going to be tough to replace... who can we pick up to fill the WR role???
I'm sure the FO felt the same way you do.

Who to keep and who to release?

Clowney or Holmes?

If someone gets hurt, the reality is is that there's a very strong likelihood that we can sign.....David Clowney, which is why the move makes sense. If he gets poached, sie la vie.
Ugh How do you cancel a custom Jersey order from nflshop ?
I'd be surprised if they let you order a Clowney Jersey.

7. Is Cumberland, these cuts are an endorsement by the Jets of his talent and potential. Cumberland played WR in college.Currently the Jets are carrying four TE's, Jeff is the only TE that has the skill set to back up Keller, maybe Cumberland is a TE /WR combo, looking to replace Edwards if he doesn't sign next year ?. The Jets have three guys on the roster based on potential, Cumberland, McKnight and Marcus Dixon. We have a lot of folks over 30 on the DLine, Dixon must be considered the future although he has not been activated yet this season ...

Never understood the Patrick Turner signing, now lets just hope neither one of them end up signing with New England or Miami.

I don't think you can cancel a custom order. Hmmm, maybe you can call the NFL Shop, see if they can remove the E and Y off of Clowney and tell everyone you lost a bet. :D

I'm sorry to see David go, but that's the breaks in the NFL. I remember one guy, a back up O tackle Jason Nerys, they cut & signed that guy back like eight or nine times over the course of two seasons. Who knows, maybe they will bring back #87 for the PS, but either way I'd like to thank David for his time on the team and wish him luck in all his future endeavors.

+1 I expect that we'll see more of Cumberland to give Keller a breather and also to develop him within the offense, this is a long season. After we shoot out to early leads Cumberland will probably see the field more, and even in 2 TE sets with Keller. But the guy really needs to improve on his blocking though so we're not tipping our hands too much.

I remember this was the same knock on Keller last season: his inconsisitency and impact on blocking assignments, thanksfully he's shown marked improvement.
