No matter how you spin it (get it?) this thread is painfully bad.

Why not a "frozen foods that are better than the real deal" thread and see if we can discover something?
Um, those toolbucket noise tricks that impress you in 2011 were thoroughly worn out by the mid '70s.

LOL.
Sorry. I don't remember the 70's. But I'll be sure to ask my Grandpappy about those toolbucket noises the next time I stop by his house to open some catfood for him....

lolz
Words
Yes, my good friend Jetswin had already made that clarification, but thank you for the additional clarification.

By all means sir, I hope you and the general forum membership continue to enjoy your old all-encompasing thread, as I've said repetedly I'm a huge fan of many classic rock acts myself.

But once in a while I like to hear music foccued on todays best and brightest acts, without having to wade through the usual classics, and this thread has already been a huge success in my book, exposing some new acts I was previously unaware of. And since I started the thread purely for my own interests and enjoyment, thats really all that counts.

Thank you again for your clarififcation, and have a great day.
Again, I have no problem with this thread or your desire to hear new music or your distatse for anything I might appreciate or anything else, I only responded because you mentioned me by name and used my taste for old music as well as a mischaracterization of the previsious music thread (started by me) as a reason for this one. That's the only reason I bothered to respond, not because I have any problem whatsoever with this thread, by all means sir enjoy your new music (only) thread to the ength degree.
I think you had made your point perfectly clear, but thank you again for the additional clarification, sir.

You'll find the OP has now been re-written, removing the references you found troubling.

Now, back to the music!

The whole TRON soundtrack by Daft Punk was quite good.
I thouight these guys first album was brilliant. Picked up their second, but it went a little too far into and endless drone vibe for me, but still not bad.
I caught these guys in Buffalo in October. Pretty good live show indeed....trip inducing bass lines and all :D

Sorry, brother...I don't need an education on music. I'm pretty close to the same age as you and listen to all the old stuff as well.

I'm just not stuck back there. And neither are the musicians of today.

Some of the closest to Pink Floyd I've ever found tbh, the Mars Volta, a Prog-Punk-Spanish brilliant mix of crazy, with extra RHCP guitar work to boot.

Flogging Molly.

Pure Fun Irish Folk-Punk Awesome. Also one of the most fun live acts I've seen in a long time.
