You see that long list of players? That is why you don't fritter away your 6th and 7th round picks or make picks to make your QB a happier guy (yeah, yeah, this mcknight dude might be the real deal.)
With one 7th round pick you essentially get 1st choice of all those players. Instead you make your wish list as some have done on here and then get one out of 6 or 7 because the others want to go to another team. According to our front office all of those players listed are worse than WR McKnight. |

but year after year very few of these guys end up making the roster so it's not the end of the world.
didn't rex lead us on saying that he had an offensive player that we were going to draft? is that this mcknight kid? |

as for the UDFA if the 8th circuit issues a permanent stay alot of these guys could be headed to the UFL. |

As a fan I take every pick and every player pick up seriously. In any case I think we are all in for a boring dead period of non football. I hope the Jets are ready to pounce as soon as the lockout is perhaps lifted. |

- We spoke with a half dozen agents who told us they and/or their players were contacted by NFL teams during the final day of the draft on Saturday, probing interest to sign specific players as undrafted free agents if they went unselected after the seven rounds were completed. In one instance the source told us a franchise spoke specific terms on the contract that would be offered once teams received the green light to sign undrafted players. In the other instances both players and agents were told teams would be calling once given the go-ahead by the league.

The thing with undrafted FA's is, the big names ones from big schools seem to rarely work out. It's the unheralded UDFA's from small schools like Devito, Bart Scott, Kurt Warner, Tony Romo etc that are ones with the most success.

just to make sure the horse is dead....
If we made it known we wanted Mcknight I think we easily could've signed him as UDFA, is he going to have a better option than Sanchez's team?!?! |

Precisely. 99% certain the Jets could have had him as an UDFA, with McKnight electing to come and join his buddy. Absolutely no need to spend a draft pick on this guy, when there were guys like Jeremy Beal, Lee Ziemba, Eric Hagg, Cheta Ozougwu, etc still on the board.

I know it's a bit of a homer pick, but Ian Williams really played well for ND.
I think he'd fit in well at DE for us. He played the nose for ND's 3-4 defense, was stout against the run and was probably their most consistent pass rusher. |

You make a good point there. However from this list I would like Mark Herzlich. He looks like he has the hunger, the willpower and the abilities to flourish as a pro. I believe he will continue his recovery from his surgery/post cancer condition and be a fine pro.
