New Riddler trailer for Arkham City. It looks/sounds like he's gonna be a villain in the same vein as the dude from the "Saw" movies:

Arkham City "Penguin" reveal trailer:

I love what they've done with Penguin, the respirator thingy on his neck and the bottom of a broken bottle lodged in his eye socket taking place of the monocle. And of course, Soloman Grundy is a nice addition as well.

Note to developers: Start releasing games in the friggin summertime please!
Why do they have to clump all of these releases in one small window?

Dead Island 09/06
Rage 10/04
Twisted Metal 10/14
Arkham City 10/18
Silent Hill Downpour 10/25
Battlefield 3 10/25
Modern Warfare 3 11/08

The target demographic usually asks for this stuff for the holidays, I'm guessing.

Actually...the weeks preceding Christmas are usually devoid of any big releases. There has to be a industry reason as to why most of the biggest games are released in the 3rd quarter of every year. I doubt it depends on kids asking for X-mas presents as the average age of a "gamer" is 32 now.

X-mas sales are usually chock full of "shovelware"...hence why games rated "E" comprise 80% of all games sold (clueless parents hitting stores prior to Christmas and buying their kids sh*tty games).

LMAO @ 'shovelware'

This strategy is retarded, because I will buy a couple of one title brand new, then pick up the subsequent titles used or on fee-bay. Why not release your game when there is less competition?

And as a 42 yo gamer, that was precisely what I was getting at. But you may be right. Maybe it's because the summer is coming to an end and people are more apt to seek out indoor entertainment?

Gears of War 3 9/20
I added two more, but good call with the rest. What a great time for gamers the coming months will be.

On a side note, I picked up Madden 2012 today on an impulse. Early impressions, it's what I expect every time: a repacked previous version of the game, with enhanced GFX. I don't like how they changed the camera angles, and the gameplay still has flaws.

Wish 2K could still make official NFL games, and not generic versions similar to Blitz.

As much as I like Madden, it seems to be what they've done the past several releases. Too bad really cuz it's the only option for NFL licensed football games.

Same here but yes I agree - being snowbound in the wintertime is the perfect time to go through all of these games. There was such a void of releases that I finally was able to finish playing Bioshock and Bioshock2.

Just in time, because Dead Island comes out tomorrow....
