Interesting to see a lot of Neko Case here. Never listened to any of her stuff but she opened up for My Morning Jacket the other night (what a SICK show) and she came out and sang "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around":

Another intelligent music post, Borgo. I have always felt the same way. My wife has loved her stuff from day one and while it's not my cup of tea, I respect her musical talent immensely.

Borgo, give this a shot, would love to know your opinion of it - I have always dug his treatment of this tune:

Thanks, Rage. Just giving my opinion. Means a lot coming from you, my friend.

Caught Tony Iommi on That Metal Show the other night. Either he or the hosts mentioned the remake of "Trashed", from one of my favorite Sabbath record, Born Again.

EDIT:

Still love the raw power, if not horrible mix, of the original.

Overall, I like the version, especially the slight country twang he gives the music and vocal inflections. No question, Aparo is a talented singer/songwriter/musician. My only quibble with his rendition of the Elton classic is the tempo. It just seemed a bit slow for me. But, I dug it. Thanks for sharing.

I saw an interview with Ian Gillan about joining Sabbath...said his style and theirs just didn't fit...still a great album...

A lot of Iommi's stuff without Dio or Ozzy gets overlooked IMO

Blackmore is still such an accomplished player. Although I like the song, and appreciate his zeal for the genre, really wish he'd play some rock gigs with Purple. Also, that has to be the one of the worst "hair hats" on record.

Is that musket to his left or a clarinet? I love Blackmore, but you're right, he needs to drop the renaissance fair garb in favor of something purple or rainbow colored....

Looks like some Medieval horn used for heralding.

Too bad Ronnie James is gone. Seeing a Blackmore's Rainbow reunion would, for me, be even better than one with Purple. Although both would be phenomenal.

RIP.

I saw Dio a few years ago in a little hole in Detroit, before he got back together with Sabbath...I was 2nd row and he played a TON of Rainbow. This is good too:

That had to have been a great show. I dig Joe Lynn, but Ronnie is, IMO, in a class by himself.

Seeing Joe Lynn reminded me of this video. Has there ever been greater bombast. Yngwie is unbelievably talented, but a complete wanker.

No doubt about RJD. And to hear people talk about him, he was one of the kindest, most down to earth people ever. To me that's what makes/made him so great. I mean the guy's tour bus was literally just parked next to this club in the ghetto. No limos, no entourage, just him and the band. If you check youtube there are some really nice memorials to him from other musicians.

And yes Yngwie! What a douche! Swedish meatball my arse....

Anybody who ever met or played with Dio loved him. Definitely missed.
