I have always liked Glenn Hughes as a bass player and, especially, vocalist. If you haven't already, check out his work in his funk/rock band, Trapeze, and on Deep Purple's Burn. Amazingly, Hughes outshines lead singer/frontman David Coverdale, who had replaced the legendary Ian Gillan. His vocals soar.

Burn is a great tune; I guess I like Hughes better. That's Purple's best single by far; HIway Star is too long.

I had the exact opposite experience. I never knew the hype because I never heard of them. I came across the music by accident and was like, holy crap, this sounds like a modern Led Zeppelin. I didn't even know Jason Bonham was in the band at that point. I think the music is great, especially the new album.

I saw them with Hagar, it was ok. I never really liked them that much after DLR got the boot. I heard that reunion tour sucked and I can only imagine how bad it was. Eddie and Alex are evil.........

Hughes does some vocals on a Black Sabbath CD too, Eternal Idol or Headless Cross or some such crap.

Never a greater gritty rock riff and power chords. Possibly, the best guitar driven record of that era.

Goin' back to when Whitesnake was more of a blues band. One of their classics, which to my ear, shows that Coverdale picked up a few tricks from Blackmore in his Purple stint.

Massive, no gargantuan, riffs. DeMartini ROCKS. Juan Croucier should be beaten unconscious for his ridiculous gyrating and general douchiness (sic).
