March of the Wooden Soldiers
Watching Laurel and Hardy's "March of the Wooden Soldiers" on Channel 11. This brings back memories from when I was a kid in the 60's . We used to go over my Aunt and Uncle's house for Thanksgiving. My cousins and I would all watch this movie, it was a Thanksgiving tradition.
I guess I'm showing my age. |

Back in the 60s, that was an integral part of Thanksgiving morning for my family. One of the greatest endings a kid could ever hope to watch. It won't embed, so double click to watch on YouTube.

SIMPLY THE BEST!!!
Had my kids watch it when they were little, now it's part of the Thanksgiving tradition. Just like the Christmas movies. Keep the tradition live. |

I can still hear my father laughing:
Ollie: "So far so good" Stan: "We didn't travel so far" When inside Barnaby's House... Stan: "Good night Ollie" Even though we knew the lines about to be delivered, we laughed. Classic!! Last edited by JetsFanatic; 11-24-2011 at 12:27 PM. |

I was flipping channels and saw it was broadcast @ 8PM last night on a religious channel CV carried, sans commercials, un-colorized, with what looked like original title cards, with an FDR NRA logo under the M~G~M lion. I DVRed it and will check it out.
If some of the songs seem horribly dated by 2011 standards, it's interesting to note they were already 30 years old by the time this film came out (Dec. 1934) |
