Erik Walden Arrested: Packers Linebacker Jailed For Domestic Battery

Several hours after the Packers finished off their Thanksgiving win over the Detroit Lions, Green Bay linebacker Erik Walden is alleged to have assaulted his girlfriend at their shared residence in a town south of Green Bay.

According to the Green Bay Press-Gazette, Walden's girlfriend called the police at 6:10 a.m. on Friday morning to report events that had occurred at 2:30 a.m. The woman had reportedly been treated at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay before notifying authorities.

Walden was arrested shortly thereafter.

With the courts in Brown County Jail being closed for the Thanksgiving holiday, Walden will be staying in jail until at least Monday.

According to NBC26 in Green Bay, Walden's girlfriend later claimed the incident is a misunderstanding. The version of events she relayed to NBC26 is that she tripped and fell during an argument.

On Friday, the Packers issued a statement:

"The Packers organization is aware of the situation involving Erik Walden. We are in the process of gathering more information and will refrain from making any further comment."

Walden is currently in his fourth NFL season out of Middle Tennessee State. The 26-year-old has participated in all 11 Green Bay games this year, recording 41 tackles and three sacks. Walden joined the Packers during the 2010 season and earned NFC Defensive Player Of The Week honors during Green Bay's Week 17 win over Chicago.

What a bummer!
