Come on guys... Stern isnt the one whos ruining the league, the players are. If anything, Stern is trying to protect the league. He had to kill that Chris Paul to LA deal, the owners were against the trade, and the Hornets were getting screwed.
Stern isnt the problem here, its the players who are slowly ruining the league. You would have never seen Magic and Bird form a super team during the 80s, or Stockton, Miller and Ewing form a trio to get past Jordan and the Bulls. Stockton is the greatest pure PG of all-time, Miller was a top 3 2G of our era and Ewing is one of the greatest centers of all time, none ever won a championship, but if they would have formed a trio together? They would have won over 5 championships together. It would have never happened though, because Ewing was NY, Reggie was Indy and Stockton was Utah. Players of the 80s and 90s had too much pride to join forces like that. Pierce, Allen and KG really started it. They had great success with their Boston trio. LeBron, Wade and Bosh were next to follow. Made the finals during their first year together. Now its Amare, Carmelo and Paul who tried to form an unfiar trio. NY just didnt have the trade pieces. And now its Dwight Howard looking to join forces with D.Williams. Etc, etc. Lets not blame David Stern for trying to save the league, lets blame these players for lacking the type of heart and pride that Jordan, Ewing, Reggie and Stockton all played with. |

Magic was on a superteam. Stockton had a top 5 foward of all time. Michael had Scottie and Rodman Pierce/Allen/KG is a completely different situation then Miami. No one remembers Barkley and Pippen going to Hou with Hakeem. the problem with the league is a) too many teams, b) the small market teams are run terribly. |

Paul is the 2nd best player in the NBA IMO. This would be the best deal in Knicks history if it happened. That said I dont see them getting him. So if they trade Amare and dont get Paul they suck for the next decade again.

So the Knicks lineup looks like this right now;
C-Tyson Chandler PF-Amare Stoudemire SF-Carmelo Anthony SG-Landry Fields PG-Tony Douglas Its an improvement over last year, who knows how far they can go. Looking back, this is the first time D'Antoni had a real center. |

Smart basketball move. Wouldve loved CP3, but that wasn't happening. It's a 4 yr deal for about $14 million. Not a max deal, but big enough to eliminate CP3 next year.
Chandler filled the Knicks biggest holes, D and C. The time is to forget about CP3 and build a team around 2 of the top 5 scorers in the NBA. The Knicks can win a championship without an All-Star PG if they put the right complementary players around Melo & Stat. Chandler is one of such players. |

They'll pick up an affordable veteran PG (Mike Bibby is being floated as a rumor), and run the offense through Melo. With Chandler playing D and Mike Woodson on the staff, this is going to be the most well rounded Knicks team in a while.

yea, of course d'antoni wants to bring in bibby because all he does is shoot the three. Jerome Jordan the 7footer they had overseas is being brought in and hopefully Shawne Williams accepts the Knicks offer today. Your right, this will be the most well rounded team they have had in forever. I hope Baron Davis gets amnestied, considering him motivated is the best of the slim choices we would have

Def disagree. The Hornets were getting Odom, Scola, Kev. Martin, Dragic AND picks!!!! that's damn good for losing a star player.

We have our real coach to contend with.
MDA is one of only 3 NBA coaches whos ever turned a 50+ loss team around from the year before to a 60+ win team the following season. Earned coach of the year honors back in 2004-2005. MDA and the Suns went to 4 consecutive trips to playoffs inside an extremely tough Western Conference. Two seasons of 54+ wins, along with two seasons of 60+ wins. Had a regular season winning record of 232-96 during his 4 full seasons as head coach with the Suns, and last but not least, he led those PHX teams to two Western Conference Final apperances over a four year span. So lets not sit here and act as if our coach wont be able to contend coming out of the Eastern Conference. He may of had Nash and Amare in PHX, but then again, Nash was (and still is) one of the worst defensive PGs around. MDA never had a center to compete with Duncan and the Spurs. Lets not talk about a washed up Shaq who was unable to run the floor. With Melo, Amare and a great defensive Center in Chandler, the Knicks will compete for years to come under Mike. |
