This weekend is incredibly unique, ENJOY IT

This is essentially a playoff game between both New York teams.

It's as close as we've ever been to a NY NY superbowl.

These kind of games happen almost never.

ENJOY THE GAME.

I will enjoy it if we win the game.

If we lose it will ruin Christmas.

You're right, but somehow I can't get that up for it yet. I probably will be ok on Saturday, but for now it just feels like a matchup of two crap teams, neither of whom deserves to be in the playoffs. It's disappointing that the game doesn't actually mean more (like the Jets should be looking to wrap up the division).

That 2nd loss to the Pats killed the season for me. I was so looking forward to a home playoff game this season that the rest seems like kind of a waste.

I'll enjoy it if they win.

Otherwise, it's just another loss in a terribly disappointing season.

This weekend games sucks on many levels.

I travel to Long Island every Christmas Eve. My wife, two kids and my parents all in one car.

My wife and mother have no interest in the game.

They also do not want to show up 3 hours early.

I am taking them to a bar in Wantaugh that has the games and lunch.

Have to watch the JETS crap the bed and listen to my family ***** and moan.

Long Day.

In 1974, the Jets/Giants played at Yale Bowl in the middle of the season. Neither team had much to play for, but really stepped it up for that game. It wound up being the very first regular-season sudden-death overtime game played in NFL history.

Still one of the best-played I've ever seen. Namath scored a RUNNING touchdown on a naked bootleg.

Great point! I hadn't really thought of it that way but you're completely right.

Unfortunately, I also agree with these...

It will put a damper on Christmas if they lose but it wont ruin Christmas for me. No way in hell I let the Jets do that.

Well, I'm not a huge Christmas guy to begin with.

But yes, the Jets losing to the Giants and effectively ending their season would be enough that it would stick with me for quite some time.

Holy crap, this sounds horrible. Your wife would really want to sit in a bar for 3 hours with the kids and her InLaws rather than show up 3 hours early? Uggghhhh.

I'm gonna be one of those annoying nitpickers, but the Jets-Giants O.T. game was the second one that season but the first that produced a winner. A week or two before that, the Steelers and Broncos played a 35-35 O.T. game in Denver (how do 2 teams score 70 points in regulation but fail to get even 3 more in 15 minutes of O.T.?). I'll also remember the Jets-Giants matchup because it was in the days of the NFL blackout rule, so my brothers and I had to agonize over this game on the radio. I remember Giants kicker Pete Gogolak missing a critical FG that, I believe, would have won the game for the G-Men had he made it.
