Nice! Where are you going? I was able to sneak on a 5 day golf trip to Scotland last year - it whet my appetite to go back for a proper trip to see the Country as I didn't have all that much time to take in the sites (not that I was complaining.

As a scotch neophyte, all I really knew was the Johnny Walkers, Macallan, and Chivas.

Well I now have a new favorite scotch, and I'm enjoying some right now:

Talisker 10

The flavor is so rich, smoky, and sweet. It's delicious, and a beautiful golden color too. The aroma alone is intoxicating. It's so deep and smoky and awesome. It's a pricey bottle though. I'd like to try some of the other varieties but I can't imagine how much they cost.

Another Talisker nightcap. I really want to save this bottle for special occasions, but I find the characteristics of this scotch to be irresistible. I literally spend as much time inhaling the aroma as much as I do drinking the liquid.

I got a Glencairn glass (google it) for Christmas, and that only enhances the experience.

By far my new favorite drink.

If you're liking Talisker (Skye), check out some from Islay. New to scotch myself, I've found Malts.com to be a great resource.

Last night I had some of this:

Wow, what a terrific scotch. My first thought was that it tastes like how leather smells, if that makes sense. Dry but rich and smooth, a bit woodsy too. Almost like a well appointed library.

I found it to be a bit stringent, TBH. I'm also not that big of a fan of Islay scotch, so that may be why.

Dalmore is some quality stuff. I'm going to a tasting sponsored by them at a watch event come September.

If you like smokey, peated whiskies, this one packs a wallop. One of my favorites.
