Texans sign Foster,might tag Williams?

As per ROTOWORLD

Texans agreed to terms with RB Arian Foster on a five-year contract.
Financial terms of the deal are not yet available, but the Houston Chronicle reported Saturday the $30 million guaranteed that Chris Johnson landed last summer was likely to be the "starting point" in long-term talks. The move frees up the franchise tag for DE/OLB Mario Williams or C Chris Myers, but the Texans reportedly "aren't inclined" to tag either player. Foster, who was a restricted free agent, would have made $7.7 million under the franchise tag. With the Texans being among the more cap-strapped teams in the league, it's likely Foster's 2012 cap number will be lower than the tag would have guaranteed.

Lets keep an eye on the players the Texans need to "cut" if they franchise Mario.
This team has some legit players.

I'd be very surprised if the Texans managed to tag Williams. They are in a far worse cap situation than we are and they just gave a big contract to Arian Foster. Plus they don't even really need Mario anymore now that Barwin and Reed gave them a pass rush last season.

So if the Texans franchise Mario, will he get franchised as a OLB or a DE? I would think he would be cheaper if he was an OLB.

No way they can afford Mario Williams now. He's gone.

@JasonLaCanfora
Arian Foster joins AP and CJ atop RB $$ ranks. $43.5M over 5 years, $20.75M guar, $30m in 1st 3 years of deal, $18M in 2012.

They still might be able to. That 18 million this year is the money he will be paid because of the signing bonus. That is not his cap number.

Does this mean Ben Tate could be available?

Trading him for a 2nd rounder would be a great move, imo, for both sides.

LOL...a second round pick? No way. Plus he is still very cheap for the Texans.
