Has the roll over been taken into effect yet?

Didn't we have like $8 million of cap space last year that was supposed to carry over to this year?

If the Jets have over $20 million in cap space to work with, then signing Mario Williams should be a foregone conclusion.

Not sure but they needed that excess cap space just to be under the '12 cap due to other players '12 salaries/cap number increasing

I would rather pass on Williams and fill a number of other holes. ILB, RT and OLB perhaps. I like Williams alot but if we can divy up the cap dollars and fill 2 or 3 holes we might be better served.

Not enough, too many holes to fill.

Cap will go up too so we'll be in better shape. They've been in meetings trying to bump it up the last few days.

No way would Revis report to camp if he's not the highest paid Defensive player..

I am pretty this is not true. Jets cap of 120 million was with increases. This was way before the rolling over of the 7/8 million. I have been checking on this cap situation on jets cap website for over 6 months . If all the info is correct than jets should have 7/8 million from rollover, 7.5 million from ferguson and then the cap relief from sanchez which looks like 6.3 million. That would be over 21 million.

Then trade him.

If the Rams can get a kings ransom for the rights to a totally unproven QB like Griffin, then the Jets could get a massive haul for arguably the best defensive player in the league who is entering his prime.

With a beast passrusher like Williams, Revis' value to this defense decreases pretty significantly.

I hear you UT but with the new rookie wage scale it's not as bad as it was and as great as Revis is he's not a QB..Plus everyone knows he's holdout prone.. Plus crazy Snyder gave up his first rd picks for the next decade..:P

Love Williams but in 2010 the Texans ranked dead last in pass defense....Big reason they went hard after Joseph in FA.....

Wish it were that simple but Revis is a special player...Not sure Williams solves the Jets problems with Revis gone....

And in 08 we were ranked 30th in pass defense with Revis on the team.

The improvement in their defense had more to do with a change in the scheme rather than the addition of new players.

IMO Joseph made a big difference and allowed them to change their scheme because he is a premier CB....

Also in 2008 i do not think Revis was considered all-world like he is now....I believe 2009 was his big breakout year.....
