Devito a goner?
So, with Coples here, is it going to be:
Wlkerson Sione Quinton on the line, just like that? or do you think he can be OLB'er? I wanted Ingram, but I think Quinton is going to be very very good. |

As hard as it is for me to believe, I don't think guy is going to play OLB for us. He's going to be on the line with Pouha and Wilkerson. That makes the pick a bit surprising. But he's a freak athletically

DeVito finishes out the year...and his contract.
By the way, while I don't like the pick, we have one of the deepest lines in football... |

Why would Devito be gone. He is still one of the top run stuffers in the NFL, who will probably be in on a lot of running downs over Coples.

I dont think so
Devito is a great run stuffer but leaves much to be desired in pass rush, which is where is see Coples really getting time early--- replacing Devito on passing situations. Coples is going to be used in so many different positions but i think Devito is safe. |

Is Kenrick Ellis not progressing? I say him and his 350lb frame will anchor the middle. Wilkerson, Pouha, Ellis, Coples, Devito rotation

How many defensive lineman do the Giants have? You're allowed to have more than 3-4...

i think eventually it plays out like this
Starters :Wilkerson, Ellis*,Coples Backups: Pouha and Devito *(depending on how much he has developed this offseason) that a strong dine with good Depth and a good mixture youth and Veteran leadership.. |

it all starts up front. the jet dline should be pretty darn good especially if ellis can start staying on the field. devito gets banged up a lot so he may be used for depth or in run downs. imo one of the real keys is if the jets can counter a hurry up offense. most times the dline is sucking wind after having to stay out for 4 or 5 plays in a row without the normal 45 seconds between plays.
now the real question is if the jets continue to use the 2nd pick for defense (lb) or do they go back to offense (oline/te/wr). what if ingram is still there at 48? |

How do players develop over the off season? It is not like he had to get stronger. |

I wouldn't be terribly surprised if Devito is traded over this weekend.
- He's presumably been supplanted as a starter with the Coples selection - We already had decent depth at the position with Dixon and Pitoitua. - Devito is in a contract year and probably wouldn't have been re-signed anyways, now almost definitely wouldn't be. - Getting rid of him would clear about 3 million in cap space. - Oh, and we could use an extra draft pick. I'm sure we wouldn't get a 2nd for Devito, but you should get something useful for a legitimate NFL starter. |

Pitoitua with a real training this offseason and not Rehab should also be a much better player this year. Devito could damn well be in trouble.. |

We only have two picks in the next three rounds and still need a rt, safety, old and wr. |

In many ways I wonder if part of the plan is to clear that cap space for Braylon/Atogwe I still think the draft approach will be BAP though. That's Tannenbaum's MO and it very much fits the Coples pick. |
