Either the score matters, in which case it's a forfeit and you play for fun after, or the score doesn't master, in which case you take the forfeit and play for fun. See how easy that is?

At that age, they probably have playoffs and name a league champion. But I don't really think that matters - coaches should have called up players to complete his team, or the game ends 'officially' in forfeit, and if they want to play 'for fun' they can borrow players. You can't make kids play for the other team in a game that counts in the standings. The way that I look at it, what you teach then about being a member of a team far outweighs anything you teach them about baseball. Not many of these kids will have baseball games in their adult life, let alone get paid to play, but they will all have to be part of a team in one way or another.

And, if they're borrowing players, they should take the opportunity to get fine kids playing time in the infield that don't normally, get a new kid in to pitch that they've been working with, etc.

Either way, there's no excuse for Erik's actions.
I dont think anyone of you would feel the way you do if it was your kid who was being used as the platoon player in RF. I would have suggested a kid in the crowd who played for another team instead of a member of the team playing.

Come on guys criticize me if you will. You know im Erik's dad and just dont want to agree with me, bottom line.

So Erik is too blame for the opposing team not having enough players? Was it Erik who decided to play the game? I was thinking the same thing initially.

Maybe this happened at a mens softball game and the poster was Erik.

Actually he'd been burbling about Bill Buckner during warmups. Apparently he'd seen a video that week. Regardless, plenty if not most 9 year old Red Sox fans know who Bill Buckner is--his error in game 6 was the most infamous moment in team history. Would you think it odd for a nine year old Jets fan to know who Joe Namath is? Or Mark Gastineau? Or Don Maynard? Hell, when I was 9 I knew Jim Thorpe, Bronko Nagurski, Red Grange, George Gipp, Don Hudson, Beatie Feathers, Walter Camp, even one play wonders like Wrong Way Riegels.

None of this changes the fact that 'Erik' is a little dooshbag. He is likely being raised by a family of dooshbags. He takes away from the enjoyment of those around him with very little understanding of what he does.

One day he may go on to post on a football message board in much the same fashion.

Sounds like you know Erik or you were once him.

Hard to imagine grown men criticizing LL age kids here, but not at all surprised.

No reason to bash kids on a football message board is all im saying. Hard to imagine a meaningless LL baseball game warranting a post and all that anger.

No last name, no pic, no address, I think the little finger-sniffer's anonymity is pretty safe. Bushy had a rough weekend, terrorized by his a-hole cat, peen about to fall off, you can understand where Erik would push him over the edge.

Hmmm...just saw the latest standings. The league apparently ruled the game a tie. Not sure where they got that from. But maybe it's for the best. Possibly it was something the opposing coaches worked out as a compromise. They recorded the final score as 13-13.

The team that couldnt field 9 players needs to get a forfeit L.

LL is supposed to be the feeder program for the high school program. Part of the game is showing up for each and every practice and game. When you sign up part of the responsibility is both on the parent/child to be there. No excuses.

:P

Sorry guys, been coaching Baseball, Basketball, & Soccer for 20 years, and according to the rules in our leagues, if you don't have enough players, you forfeit. So, if they left before the game was over, they lost....
We would have played the game through, to give the kids the opportunity to play, but it would have gone in the standings as a forfeit.
