Rangers in 6. I like the Devils offensive depth but give the defensive and goaltending matchups to the Rangers. Should be a great series either way.

If the Rangers face the same team that just played Philthy, this won't really be a contest...
If they face the team that played Florida, the same holds true, just bad news for us... Somewhere in the middle and we're looking at 7 games. I'm more for the former though and will say Devs in 6. Best of luck b!tches... |

The Devils are unquestionably the better offensive team, but I'm wondering if that can be neutralized by the Rangers D/Hank and Marty's shakiness. Marty will go down as probably the best ever, but he has been shaky in these big series/moments. I can't get out of my head how he had to be replaced by Team Canada and that was one of the major reasons they won the Gold.

Not to mention, the Rangers swept the Flyers this year. The Flyers series is not relevant IMO. |

Rangers in 7. Yes, I do think it'll come to that. The Rangers (unfortunately) seem to not play with any sense of urgency until their backs are against the wall. When they finally do though, their D and goaltending show why they have the most total wins in the league this season. |

Rangers in 7... I think they play a similar game, the Rangers just play it better. That said, Game 7 at the Garden seems to be the theme this year.
I do have a sinking feeling the winner of this series is just signing up to get smoked by the Kings, though... They're simply on fire. |

Penalty Kill was night and day in both series... They couldn't stop the plain jane attack from Florida but made the Flyers look silly... More to form of how the season went... While I don't expect Henrique to let Clarkson deflect a puck through his legs, the Devils didn't score many weak goals against Philthy... They were obviously the better 'team' on all lines and Philthy just got wore out... It's an interesting match up but I didn't mean the series analysis in a comparative way... Strictly speaking on which Devils team shows up... |

Another observation.
The Rangers faced two extremely hot goalies in Anderson and Holtby. Bryzgalov was brutal. Facing Bryzgalov, Theodore and Clemmensen was not exactly a huge challenge. I would have taken any one of those 3 over Anderson or Holtby. All I'm saying is, it won't be anywhere near as easy as Florida or Philthy. |

That's where Jordy & you disagree. You're post made it sound like if the Devils brought their "A" game it wouldn't be a contest, but we, of course, disagree. It's remarkable that the Rangers have won 2 playoff series while averaging under 3 goals a game. It'll be interesting what type of series plays out, the low scoring grinded out that the Rangers want or the high scoring that the Devils want. |
