Hakeem Nicks breaks foot

Hakeem Nicks fractured the fifth metatarsal of his right foot while running a route during individual drills in the team's practice facility. He will have surgery Friday and the approximate expected recovery time for the injury is 12 weeks.

The procedure will be performed by foot and ankle specialist Dr. Robert Anderson in Charlotte, N.C.

Nicks is coming off a career season for the defending Super Bowl champions, in which he caught 76 passes for 1,192 yards and seven touchdowns.

It's the second major injury the Giants have suffered in two days of OTAs. On Wednesday, cornerback Brian Witherspoon reinjured his ACL and was carted off the field.

In 2010, Nicks missed the last four games of the season with a broken toe in his left foot.

The Giants report to training camp at the University at Albany on July 26.

Better now than at the start of TC. He'll be good to go by the time the season starts.

They had a ton of injuries last year too, but found a way to rise above them.

It kills me to say it, but it's true . . .:steamin:

Are you a doctor?

Not saying that this will be the case but I remember quite a few players where broken foot bones caused big time issues.

Actually, hasn't he had a broken foot once before?

Injuries don't matter to the Giants. They're a well-run organization that finds players, teaches them how to play, and then win, all without bloviating about how great they are before actually doing anything.

The diagnoses of the doctor is 12 weeks. Even if he missed a little more than that he'd more than likely be able to go by Sept 5.

That said, a broken foot is a tricky injury, and he could have setbacks. I'm just saying, we're not talking torn ACL here. The odds of him being healthy by the season are great.

He had some kind of leg injury near the end of the 2010 season, not sure if it was the foot.

EDIT: Broken toe, it's in the OP lol

I think 12 weeks is worst case scenario.

It is a very common injury on the outside part of the foot. Likely a stress-fracture. I have had the same injury.

He will be fine.

Thats good.

Because we've never heard that before.

Broken bones in feet can be an issue, all I said. All I asked. Austin answered me. He didn't need your help or snide remarks.

So go back to hating all. Sorry I pissed you off somewhere else over one of your hate messages.

All some posters want to do is bicker and argue. :D

By the way, broken big toe on left foot + broken bone in right foot = problems down the road. Just sayin'.

You heard it here first from Dr. Jordy. ;)

Those are the posters that ruin this forum. What do they think this place is for? Discussion?

Dummies.
