Being the strong second half player he is he could be looking at some serious cy young votes if he keeps this up. Has a knuckle baller every been a top candidate for the Cy?

Crazy.

Not in the last 30 years that I am aware of -- I think Phil Niekro and Wilbur Wood both came close back in the '70s. Early Wynn won it in 1959 - he threw a knuckleball, but was never primarily a knuckleball pitcher.

He's been a stud this season, no doubt about it, easily the Mets ace, even with Johan pitching well.

Just another complete game shutout vs the NL's top offense. Dickey's ERA is now 2.69.

In 1995, Tim Wakefield went 14-1 1.65 in his first 17 starts with the Red Sox, but he fizzled in the second half. It would be cool if Dickey could win the Cy.

Suffice to say Dickey is unhittable right now. I believe his scoreless inning streak is now clis to 27 innings, he's the first 9 game winner in baseball and is era is below 2.50.

Yup, another great outing for Dickey. Now, lets hope Santana can follow up last week's gem with another strong outing against the Yanks tomorrow night.

When I first saw this post, I thought the idea of Dickey being considered for Cy Young was ridiculous. Now, after a couple more great starts -- there is still a long way to go, but you never know.

Was kind of just throwing it out there at first but with Beachy getting hurt in ATL its just Dickey and Cain at the top in the NL right now.

This is an incredible run.

5 straight starts with 0 earned runs and 8+ Ks.

52 strikeouts and 5 walks in that span.

Unreal.
