Am I crazy in thinking of Tebow as insurance? They extended Sanchez but also brought in Tebow... that tells me the FO is committed to Mark but hedging their bets ... they can't afford another fail like that at the end if the season.
No. Make no mistake if Mark doesn't pan out our QB for next year is not on this team right now. Averaging 16 points on offense with a 47% completion rate is not going to get it done long term in the NFL. We got Tebow for two reasons-One is because Woody likes to make big headline grabbing moves, the other is because Rex and Sparano like the Wildcat option. Tim Tebow has done nothing to improve his mechanics as a QB and apparently has no intent or ability to do so or he would have already now in his 3rd year at QB. |

Before everyone forgets that the Jets D has a habit of making below average QBs look like hall of famers. This D should be shutting down this O. They are supposed to be learning a new system.

I think this is great and it is encouraging, but like Ucrenegade said, I want to see it on Sundays during the regular season. We all know he has the talent and have seen in very limited streaks here and there. I just want him to be more consistent.
Agreed. Sanchez is the BY FAR, best QB In camp and Tebow seems to know it too and is not causing this. he draws attention by no fault of his own.
Unfortunately, the bolded part is not true. Tebow knows he is the ring master of a 3 ring circus. He has a personal PR dept to manage it. It is his "brand", and it is carefully cultivated. If Tim wanted to shut down all of this speculation, he easily could. The next interview, all he has to say is "I was brought here to be the backup QB and help the team in other ways. I intend to be the back-up QB and will work diligently to be the best backup QB that I can be." Instead, he talks about how he wants to be a starter and how he and Mark are "competing every day". He sounds like Gomer Pyle, but ever word he speaks is calculated. I have heard that he did the same thing in Denver while backing up Orton. Mark has to say the right thing, and he has handled this with class. Tebow, not so much. |

Good for him. _
If he wants to be a preacher, no problem. Quit football and be a preacher. He would be bigger than that Swagart guy. If you want to play football, be a team player and do the job you were hired for... BACKUP QB. End the controversy. He can do it easily. He does not want to. |

On top of that, he has an unmatched work ethic and wants to win at everything. In my opinion, those type of players are usually dicks.. Combined with his religious background, he becomes a very influential team memeber. |

Seems kinda fishy to me. I would have no doubt if rex and the FO said he had a chance to start. Only the blind homers think this is not possible. |

He was told he would be the THIRD stringer in Jax AND would be playing multiple other positions. THAT'S why he chose NY. But mainly the pulpit.
link?
Around that time, as well, Mularkey called the top two quarterbacks on his roster — starter Blaine Gabbert and backup Chad Henne — to assure them they were still the starter and backup. “I just wanted to make sure they were updated with things from our end of things,” Mularkey said. “Don’t read into anything that you’re hearing or reading, what we’ve told you from the beginning has not changed.” Mularkey was asked Thursday if he did intend to use Tebow as a third-string quarterback and special teams player, as one report said. He said “some of that’s confidential.” http://jacksonville.com/sports/football/jaguars/2012-03-22/story/jaguars-pursued-tim-tebow-how-hard |
Im not religious, but Tebow is the epitome of "lead by example"
The whole point of religion is to develop better core values and to accept others Tebow does all that regardless of his career. which is why hes such an inspirational figure. On top of that, he has an unmatched work ethic and wants to win at everything. In my opinion, those type of players are usually dicks.. Combined with his religious background, he becomes a very influential team memeber.
All that is nice, and I don't deny that he portrays himself to be a wonderful guy. He is a hard worker, no doubt. "Lead by example" is BS however. He is a hard worker in the weight room. So what. Every non-QB, and some QB's work hard in the weight room. He does nothing "special" that others don't. His deal is that he wears his religion on his sleeve, and has a big born again following THAT HE CULTIVATES. He speaks to the media like "Ah, shucks... I'm just trying to get better every day..." canned BS, and the media laps it up. He is NOT, however, a good teammate. He could end this manufactured "controversy" in a minute. He CHOOSES not to. Tebow does whatever benefits Tebow. End of story. |

Disagree. Most backup QBs do not have a cult following. They do not have a personal PR staff. Tebow was a starter in Denver. He failed. He lost his job. He was brought to NY to be a backup. He knows it, and the FO has said it publicly. And yet Tebow selfishly allows the media manufactured "QB Controversy" to continue. Real stand-up guy. I can see why the Jesus freaks love him. |
