Devito is staying, he will just play 1st/2nd down only. Jets are using more 4 man fronts. Pouha/Devito/Wilkerson/Coples are the starters.
On 3rd down Pouha/Devito come out and Maybin comes in.

I disagree in regards to letting Vlad walk. Ropati Pitoitua is now 27 years of age with an injured past; it was time for him to go. We're now loaded with our defensive front. Vladimir Ducasse on the other hand? He's only 24 years of age and only heading into his 3rd NFL season. We may have selected Vlad with the 61st overall pick of the 2nd round, but as a front office, and even as a fan base we all not only knew, but also understood that we were dealing with a project player in whom could take 3-4 years of developing before coming into his own. We have to stay patient with this kid, because the potential of a 6'5, 325 pound offensive lineman who's full of bruit power and strength could be very high. He's listed as an offensive tackle, but I see more of a road grader ala a guard in Vlad, but that's just me.

of course, Ellis rotates in with the starters this season
I think if Ellis turns out to be a beast then maybe they let Devito walk, but it's too soon to say that he will.
It's a great problem to have, having this combination of talent and youth on the d-line
Devito was injured a lot last year. I assume he makes more money.

I don't want to see him go, I like him. But I have a feeling if they dump another one, it might be him. :(
They can't cut Devito, because Rex said he was a good player. How would that look. You don't win championships like that. How stupid. From now on I want Rex to tell me which players on the team are jags and that as soon as we find a viable replacement they're gone. That's how you win championships. God it amazes me how stupid people can be and still survive out in the world.

Aaron Maybin is #51, correct? I'm not sure if it's just me, but he looks like he's put on either muscle, weight or both. I can't really tell, but he most definitely looks much bigger when compared to last season.

Now, I'm not sure if those 6 sacks and 4 forced fumbles were a fluke of luck during his first 9 games last season, or if he's actually a bonafide speed rushing pass rusher coming off the edge, but you can't deny his speed and overall quickness. He's an athlete.

Now, if Maybin can just develop/become a consistent pass rusher for us? I think we'll be able to consider him as a steal moving forward. Kid just turned only 24 years of age too. If he's able to bulk up, just enough to the point where he's able to A.) Keep his speed/quickness which makes him dynamic, while also becoming strong enough to B.) Take on blocks while holding his own against the run? I believe he could possibly become our full time starter opposite of Calvin Pace this up coming season. Now, when we're running a 4-3 defensive scheme? Maybin needs to be on the line, as a speed rushing DE.

He's actually one of the defensive players that I'm most looking forward to watching this coming season. Vernon Gholston, who busted on us, may have already been replaced by Maybin himself. Kid was a first round draft pick in his own right, 11th overall. Hopefully Buffalo quit on their draft prospect a little too soon. We'll soon find out this season. Outside of his overall speed and quickness, what made me into a believer last season were two aspects of his game. He never quits on a play, and his motor seems to be second to none. Played with a chip on his shoulder for real.

Wow, this place still has everything covered. Not a lot has changed. There isn't an avenue in regards to Jets football that hasn't already been talked about heading into our up coming season. Over the years, this site has developed an outstanding group of posters. Thanks for that Maybin link. Great read.
