Creep with hidden camera targets young women on subway
But cops can’t stop it By PHIL HELSEL and BRAD HAMILTON Last Updated: 3:14 PM, June 24, 2012 Posted: 12:51 AM, June 24, 2012 Share on emailShare on facebookMore Sharing ServicesMore Print It’s the XXX train, and you might be riding it. A sleazy stalker has secretly filmed dozens of attractive young women on the subway and posted them online — but police admit there’s little they can do about it. The creepy straphanger uses a camera hidden in a Starbucks coffee cup to shoot video and still pics of unsuspecting and even sleeping women as they ride the rails. He calls himself John Zippy and posts his shots on a YouTube channel, “New York Subway Girls.” He’s uploaded 35 videos since Feb. 24, and a blog of the same name exposes 102 female commuters. VIOLATED These riders had no idea their images were being recorded and posted online. He boasts online of always getting away with it because his targets “usually don’t know what to do because they aren’t sure if they are just being paranoid.” In a June 8 post titled “Glamor Girl Short Skirt Bare Legs,” Peeping John aims his device up a pretty blonde’s skirt as she flips through a magazine. Another shows a young brunette in a sundress as she crosses her legs. A Feb. 26 image called “Sexy Asian Girls” shows two friends sitting close together, prompting a post from a fan complaining that the footage is too brief. The train troll’s response: “I will try to make the subway videos longer, however I am not dealing with a cooperative audience.” Despite blatantly violating the privacy of female riders, the subway slimeball is unlikely to be brought to justice, law-enforcement sources admit. Taping people in public places is not a crime. Authorities say the subway slime could face up to four years in jail for capturing intimate images without a subject’s consent, a felony. But it would be up to a court to decide what’s “intimate,” since most of the clips portray the woman simply sitting or walking. And without a victim’s complaint or police catching him red-handed, there’s almost no chance for an arrest, officials said. “Zippy” claims he’s a 42-year-old man, but offers no other details. His electronic trail includes a Yahoo! e-mail address linked to an adult message board. When confronted by The Post via e-mail, he refused to give his real name or meet in person, but did offer this bizarre defense: He does it for the art. He even likened himself to Salvador Dali. “I totally understand that many people consider it sorta creepy. It is,” Zippy wrote. “I have over the years had conversations with people . . . about how they saw the ‘most beautiful,’ ‘the hottest,’ ‘most amazing,’ ‘the finest’ woman on the Subway followed by a vivid description worthy of a sonnet. “I decided to try and capture this common occurrence in one place where people could share and comment in an open and nonjudgmental manner.” Yet the captions with the creep’s videos suggest anything but art — “sexy Asian,” “hot nerd girl” and “sexy high-heeled boots.” Female riders said that getting secretly filmed on the subway was a worry. “There’s not much you can do about it, unfortunately,” said Lizzie Griesedieck, 22, an art-business student from the East Village, as she waited for an uptown C train. “But it’s pretty gross.” After a Post inquiry Thursday, YouTube pulled the plug on Zippy. “The account has been suspended due to multiple or severe violations of YouTube’s policy on nudity or sexual content,” the site stated.
I've seen everything from McDonalds, fried chicken, Fried fish (thats special in AUGUST:eek:) and Chinese eaten on trains.
My favorite "food on the subway" memory from back when I lived in Brooklyn and took the subway daily, was of a obese woman eating fried chicken and throwing the bones on the floor. An apple would have been refreshing....until she threw that on the floor too. |
