Just hope they don't overdesign and overbuild and get stuck with empty retail spaces and leases so high shops go under.

If they design carefully with adequate parking and roads and lights in the right places then it should be successful.

Very possible. The amusement park in Mall of America is a major hit with the area. These indoor amusement parks have also flourished in Asia and another huge one is being built there. I'm not familiar with that area other than going to games so it remains to be seen how profitable it can be.

Christie steps into controversy.

We noted last week that the Jets and Giants are taking some criticism over their lawsuit to prevent the construction of a huge mall next to their stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Now the teams’ critics include the governor of New Jersey.

Governor Chris Christie told the Bergen Record that he thinks the Jets and Giants have done the wrong thing by going to court to attempt to halt the project, which could be a major source of revenue for the area but which the teams say will cause “traffic nightmares” on the 20 days a year that the two NFL teams are playing home games at MetLife Stadium.

“It’s not the way the business should be done, and I’m disappointed in the teams for having done it — and I’ll leave it at that,” Christie said.

Christie said he believes the project will still go forward, and that work will start up again in the fall. But a fight with the Jets and Giants will have to be part of the work toward getting the project done.

The Jets and Giants are just taking a preemptive strike as there are sure to be lawsuits from disgruntled PSL holders after their "game day experience" is destroyed by shoppers.

On the other hand, who in their right mind would be willing to invest 2 billion in retail shopping in this economy?

Politicians are always willing to "invest" our tax dollars in crackpot schemes. Put some solar panels on that beast and it is good to go as a Green and Sustainable project!
