There's more to a budget than discretionary spending.
One can twist numbers any way they want. Try to be realistic please. Military should be reduced, BUT so should the ridiculous education department. NLRB, HUD and a host of other areas. |

Providing for the common defense should be the largest expenditure of the Federal Government. With a few exceptions, all the other entitlement crap they spend our money on is well beyond the purview of the Federal Government's role, according to the constitution. But this is what happens when the constitution no longer matters to those in power.

The guy/gal that wears his "service" as a badge, is now concerned about the degree military expenditure.

I bet more than half the "military" spending goes to civilians who work for DOD.

Obviously like health care we aren't getting the proper return on our investment. We need to over haul the system or decide results can't be improved and pay less for the crappy results. |

Exactly, maybe if Clinton paid more attention we would not be in this situation, but then again good opportunity to thin the herd.
This opinion is able to be given due to the sacrifices of our armed forces. Thank You! |

And this is why despite all the rhetoric and sound bytes and speeches, many of the born again (until they get back in power) fiscal conservatives are full of ****.
There is so much wasteful tax spending in defense that it is criminal in every sense of the word. Yet not a word from the Bachmans, Romneys, Cantors etc on defense spending. Why? Because just as the democratic politicians are in the pockets of special interests, so are many of the conservatives. Good luck trying to get defense cuts ;

Look at history. Those not prepared will be prey to those that are. Basic stuff. seducation. It's the education DEPARTMENT, along with the other DEPARTMENTS I cited which are worthless. You're a teacher? Obviously you do not stress READING COMPREHENSION. But perhaps you're still young, inexperienced and still have a lot to learn. No doubt. Most of the worls's killing BTW has been done without weapons of mass destruction. And will continue to be in all probability. And frankly, I don't think we kill enough. We are, in fact, far too judicious. |

DC crumbles as government spends abroad
Trillions for war. Trillions for Wall Street. Pennies for taking care of the US.

This just in on our fantastic and efficient federal government.
In 2011, the government OVERPAID $14 BILLION in unemployment benefits. A fine job. That's even more wasteful than the department of education. Good control. Sultan Obama can raise taxes as much as possible - he still in incapable of controlling spending. |

Our military is SMALL. A fraction of what it once was. The fewest ships since WWI. That's ONE. Fewest divisons since 1940. Good equipment though. BTW, the cost of a military (as small as it is) is pretty much the same (90%) whether we're fighting or not. We really do not use that much ordnance these days. There is waste in the miliatry which can be reduced. Waste in unemployment and Medicare/Medicaid and social security which should be severely prosecuted. |
