Time for a torch job insurance scam. What could go wrong?

You're welcome.

Too many security cameras at my work parking lot, so that's out.

speaking of car trouble...my son's car's battery died this weekend, it was $175 to replace . I have not replaced a car battery in years, I usually don't keep them long enough, this is a car I bought years ago used for the kids to learn to drive with, anyway, did I get hosed, it seemed high to me?

Yeah. You bought a 10 year "I've got 3 TVs in my car" type of battery.

It's a BMW, so I figured there was a certain amount of thievery involved, the good news the battery should outlast the car

Was it an Optima battery? Those are pricey but that's usually around where they run. Either that or Interstate, but that seems high too.

Is your son's car also a RV?

I would play with the ignition patiently for an hour or so and see if I could get it to turn, if that didn't work I would try forcing the key with pliers or something, as a last resort I would try a screw driver pounded in with a hammer hood rat style.

My goal would be to take it to a repair shop rather then have them come to me.

You also might want to try a U-Pull it operation where you could pull it your self out of an old junker and maybe learn how it all disassembles and reassembles on the junk car.

Or maybe sell it as is and use the cash to buy a new ride.

Paid about the same for a VW Jetta. Most likely a maintenence free one, and probably has high cold cranking amps for winter. Sucks its for a old car, but for the kids sounds worth it.
