Well said. Camby may be 38 years of age, but that still doesn't change the fact that he's still a great defensive center and can board off the glass with the best of them. Averaged 9.0 Rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game during 22.9 minutes per game last year. He'll create for an excellent defensive minded Center to last year Defensive Player of the Year in Tyson Chandler. It'll be nice throwing out Camby for 18-21 minutes on a nightly basis in order to spell Tyson Chandler down low.

Lets not forget, Camby averaged 22.9 minutes, 9 boards and 1.4 blocks per game during a shortened season where the schedule featured many back to back and/or back, to back, to back games. That won't be the case this year.

The Knicks still have the salary to A.) Match Jeremy Lin (which is a given) and B.) Sign both Fields and Jeffries. We've already signed J.R Smith for another year while extending Novak long term.

This has been a great offseason. Harrellson and Douglas wouldn't have been able to help us 'win now'. Both Kidd and Camby have the ability to do so.

Before getting early bird rights, it seemed impossible to sign Lin long term without the losing of Novak and J.R Smith. Now, we're on the verge of signing Lin long term, signing J.R Smith and Novak while still being able to bring in vets such as Camby and Kidd. That's outstanding. This COULD be our roster next season...

C: Tyson Chandler / Marcus Camby.
PF: Amare Stoudemire / Jared Jeffries.
SF: Carmelo Anthony / James White
2G: Iman Shumpert / J.R Smith
PG: Jeremy Lin / Jason Kidd.

With Landry Fields backup up both the SF and 2G position(s) as a role playing teammate. For those of you who don't know about James White, he's been one of the greatest players out in Europe over the years. Athletic as they come.

Landry Fields isn't a Knick anymore. He went to Toronto.

Thanks for the update, although you're wrong Rich. Landry Fields is not a Raptor, he simply signed an offer sheet. The Knicks have three days to match Toronto's offer. Lets hold off on considering Fields a Raptor until after the Knicks have decided to pass.

Pretty sure they'll pass.

Now thinking about it, chances are that you're right, they'll most likely pass. Landry wasn't anything special, but he was a solid role playing teammate. Very underrated off the ball player. There are reports that the Knicks are showing lots of interest in Ronnie Brewer, which would give us added defensive ability off the bench.

I'm a fan of all of the moves Grunwald has made.

If he matches 3yrs/20million for Landry Fields, he is insane, absolutely ridiculous.

A shooting guard who can't shoot, I loved watching opposing teams have their freaking center guard him and get by without any problems.

He looked great the first half of his rookie year. Hasn't really been the same since the Carmelo trade, and in his sophmore year his shooting went way down. It's odd, because he's not someone who needs the ball -- his regression was strange.

But yeah, they're definitley letting him go. It would be ridiculous to match that contract.

Maybe. But the point is, you were wrong. Thank God we have DWC here to explicitly point this out when these instances arise.

thanks for the update. but chances are, Paulie may be right.

so let's hold off on saying he's wrong until after the Knicks have decided to do something that proves he wasn't wrong.

It was all a joke at DWC's expense of course but Paulie had said he was already with Toronto.

of course, and i was just extending the joke by pretending to agree with DWC, all at his own expense.

which may or may not be exactly what you were doing in this last post, but now i'm confused.

Thankfully he didn't. Fields is garbage. He was ok his rookie year playing in D'Antoni's system but he's worthless in a halfcourt offense - he can't shoot.
