The 56-year-old steered the chair to an up escalator at the Broadway T subway stop, but as it started to climb, she flipped backward and somersaulted down the stairs.
A good samaritan tried to help her, but tripped over the 250-pound scooter.
An MBTA worker eventually stopped the escalator, and the woman unbuckled herself from the chair and walked down to the platform.

Broadway Station is in South Boston -- I used to ride through there on the T Red Line to work when I lived in Quincy, such a lovely area
