You could give me a $30 bottle of Jameson and a $100 bottle of Glenlivet and I wouldn't be able to tell much of a difference. Certainly not enough to warrant plunking down an extra 70 bucks.
Then why not **** ugly, fat chicks? Wet chooch is wet chooch, no?

Seriously, if your palette isn't discerning enough to notice a difference, then simply go ahead and enjoy the $70 you have in your wallet after waking up from your drunken stupor. In fact, go ahead and start a thread about it instead of ****ting all over this one. I'm certainly not going to try and change your mind.

UT is a young gun. He's not intentionally rubbing it in your ace; I think he wants to know.

Understood. Then my advice is for him to part with some hard-earned cash and expand his horizons. I'd recommend a nice Balvenie or Dalwhinnie. He'll still have about $40 bucks left, too.

Picked up this stuff over the weekend. A bit stronger, but also heavenly.

Except that one is Irish Whiskey and is Scotch. So despite your novice palatte, I'm pretty sure you'll be able to tell the difference.

But to address your question, why spend money on anything? Is there any reason to spend money on good food? Wine? Clothes?

Everyone has different tastes. I drink Makers and Buffalo Trace all the time. Occasionally I'll have a drink of that 15/20 year Van Winkle that's a bit pricier. Is it it really 3-4x better than my usual pour? Probably not, but it depends on how you quantify things. To some people, eating at a fancy restaurant is extremely wasteful. To others its well worth it.

Some people think going to 8 Jet games is excessive - others wouldn't miss a game for even a cousin's wedding.

The best Islay Malt I ever tried (and tried probably 10-15 different ones) is Talisker 18 year old. Very hard to find now, but well worth a try.

I've ordered it from overseas and you're right. But Talisker is from Skye, not Islay.

You are correct, sir! But taste wise they are very similar.
