I don't understand something--Porn Stache continues to spew some idiocy about McKnight only being in it for the money, only wanting to get paid, being first in line to collect his paycheck or some such nonsense.

Other than some incomprehensible racial bias, can anyone here point out one incident or one quote or anything that directly or indirectly would lead anyone to the conclusion that McKnight is only in it for the money? I mean--other than like every other player in the history of the league?

What has he said? What has he done? Has he ever complained about his contract? Or ever said anything about not loving the game?

And since his awful first week--the vomitting and the failed conditioning test, can anyone point out any other evidence that he doesn't have a true work ethic? Why, because he came into the league with an attitude?

No work ethic?

Actually, it's the opposite. By all accounts he busted his ass the rest of his rookie year and even Rex singled him out for it, he worked out in the offseason with LT--who is a legendary offseason workout king--and came into camp in fantastic shape last year.

Voluntarily went to Jets West last year AND this year when a lot of guys didn't--worked out all offseason to pack on 15 lbs of muscle, came in early to Jets East to work out with his teammates, has NEVER missed an OTA.

I get if you don't like his style or his skills or his durability or if you think he's just a JAG. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I'm not getting the hate about his work ethic and his "only being in it for the money".

Is this just a racist view of him or is there something tangible? He came in with an attitude, but it appears he's learned from that experience. What is it--nearly 3 years after he vomitted--that some still bring up a lack of work ethic or "just wanting to get paid".

Sounds like something is going on here that just ain't right.

mcknight

if the offensive line improves.then mcknight will be awsome.as far as catching passes out of the backfield.I have no doubt about him succeeding. I hope that he has added weight and muscle to be able to be an every down back.

Oh, and how could I forget about the 15 pounds of added FAT he put on. Sorry, but no one and I mean NO ONE is going to tell me that he added 15 pounds of muscle eating MCDONALDS. That's ludicrous.

When every other single professional athlete in the entire f*cking world adds muscle via an increase in caloric intake from QUALITY foods, not sh*t food like McDonald's. This jerk thinks he can just eat crap food and gain muscle.

This is to say nothing about everyone knowing that football players need to live the life of a football player 365 days a year to stay on top of their game. A game that I have already illustrated is in serious doubt. He's an unproven RB and a one dimensional player.

The SOJF's can continue to perseverate about how he's busted his a$$. Meanwhile, ignoring the contradictions along the way. The facts tell a very different story.

LOL.

How sad that you still don't realize that the McDonalds comment was a joke and continue to rally around it and harp on it as if was fact.

What did you really expect from this dude?

He's still talking about August 2010 as if it were yesterday.

Sorry, but no one and I mean NO ONE should put any thought into anything he writes.

Yeah, right, and I bet you were the same exact type of negative critic (poster) who considered McKnight to be nothing moe than a "complete bust" after only his rookie season, due to 'throwing up during his first ever training camp as a rookie'. You've now changed your tune into selective, agenda driven criticism. After his rookie season, he was a full blown bust, in your eyes, right? Now, after leading the entire NFL in average yards per kick return; he's just a "one dimensional player". What a nice change of tune.

Now, let's get this right. As you were calling him a rookie bust heading into only his second season (during last offseason), fans such as myself (and lots of other Jet fans around here) actually took the time to acknowledge his overall ability as a dynamic talent. He then ended up leading the league as a kick returner. I believe setting a franchise record for average yards per kick return during the course of a single season. With the ways you judge young NFL talents, and with the ways you look at the game of football (the way you see it)... You would have stated "not possible". "rookie bust". "No chance for 2nd season success" etc, etc. Dime a dozen type of simple minded posting and/or thought process/mentality.

Now, heading into his third season, he's no longer considered, as you would have stated it; "a full blown bust". He's now considered a one dimensional player heading into only his third season. A one dimensional player who just so happens to be one of the most talented/productive kick returners in the game today. Jet fans, such as myself and plenty of others understand that his overall talents can become ideal coming out of our backfield. Especially rushing behind a power back in Shonn Greene. A thunder and Lightning type of duo.

I'll take what our coaching staff in Rex Ryan, Mike Westhoff and now Tony Sparano have to say in regards to McKnight becoming our future number two back (and possibly future starter) over what a fisherman and hunter over the computer has to say. Such as yourself, MaineJet.

You state that he's been eating 15 pounds of McDonalds, as if eating McDonalds has been the "only way he's gained weight" (as if he's been sitting behind the computer 24/7 and/or on the love-seat), without first realizing (and/or understanding) that he's also been working out with QB's such as Sanchez and Tebow during the offseason, working out with coaches such as Tony Sparano and Rex Ryan, working out during JetsWest and recently JetsEast, working out with his personal trainer etc, etc all while gaining 15 pounds at the same time. But yet, simple minded fans, such as yourself, read into a player eating McDonalds followed by harping all over it. Without first knowing that he also plans on losing another 7-8 pounds while gaining both weight and muscle at the same time.

He's worked out during the entire offeason, and he's on the verge of working out some more (heading into the regular season) during training camps, practice reps, personal training time along with preseason practice etc, etc. I'll take what a fan, such as yourself has to say with a grain of salt; while enjoying Joe McKnight emerge onto the offensive side of the ball as a third year player.

You stated he'd be nothing during his rookie season and/or heading into his second season (last offseason). I stated that he's one hell of an athletic talent, who later went on to lead the league in average yards per kick return. Now, you're the same exact person stating that he's "only" a "one dimensional player" (Who just so happens to be great at that one dimension). And here we are again, with me stating that he's on the verge of breaking out as a 3rd year backup RB. Tony Sparano would agree.

+1 It sounded like McKnight was joking, not to be taken seriously.

Lighten up man. He put on 15 pounds of muscle and from all accounts is working out like a mad man to come back better able to carry the rock but keeping his speed.

All this talk about 2 year old vomit is making me weary. Give it up man. It's out of proportion.

It's like the biblical dog going back to the vomit. Can't we move on?

Can we PLEASE see him on the field aside from a Week 17 game against an Arena League defense before we anoint him the second coming of either Ki-Jana Carter or Barry Sanders? There's no doubting McKnight came in under prepared as a rookie, but I'm not going to fault him for that. Many rookies do. He's had two years to sit behind one of the greatest backs of all-time and learn from him and this could be his breakout season. I'm not Mr. Optimism, but can we give the guy at least one season to show us what he's got? I for one am excited to see if he can add a needed spark of speed to this offense.

Well usually one element of a joke is that the joke is told by the person HIMSELF.

But it doesn't surprise me one bit that you can't recognize when someone is joking.

I doubt very much that you own a sense of humor.

Up until now, I wouldn't have agreed with you

but based on the reposts of Mainepat's most recent diatribes against 1)McKnight and 2) Sanchez, I'm seriously beginning to agree with you about the racial/ethnic hate overtones in his fine work

I'm all for it. But I've got a pretty good idea how things will turn out:

He'll do some good things on ST's. But if they use him long enough he'll get injured and miss time.

If they use him as a RB between the tackles he'll be out for the season. His body cannot endure constant hits from large tackles.

He'll also likely fumble in big spots/big games.

Oh, so I guess all you experts can read minds and tell fact from fiction when the player himself even said the opposite of what you'd like to think?

Sorry, but no one has come forward to say it was a joke, including McKnight.

And even if this IS a joke (and it isn't), but if it was, what does that say about McKnight? An idiot who'll tell falsehoods and never own up to them? Yeah, that really sounds like a guy you would want on your team.
