Actually, it's 7,086 yards on 535 receptions for 55 TD's.

This move makes them more deep, not more dangerous. And it does nothing to change the fact that the only way the Jets are going to challenge NE this year is if they get a pass rush.

If Rex's D can apply some serious pressure, the Pats can add 5 more mid-level FA receivers and it won't matter.
Absolutely right... the Pats could spread 10 wide on each side and it won't matter at all if the defense can bull-rush Brady up the middle. The whole house of cards comes down. However there are very few teams in the league with the personnel to accomplish this... the Jets have relied on coverage sacks a lot over the past few years thanks to an elite secondary, and that won't work as well this year with that many receiving options... we'll see what the D-line brings this year.

Here's hoping that GS3 under center, and Coples on the edge works out.

There's NO reason to delay the process. Start Geno Smith.

NE offense - Tom Brady in the shotgun behind five OL and Gronkowski and Shiancoe on the outside of the line. Hernandez in the backfield or flanked out on the right. Lloyd flanked out left. Welker in the slot.

Here is something even more scary:

Pats go with 5 receiver set in a double slot formation.

Lloyd split wide left, Gaffney split wide right.

Shiancoe in the left slot, Welker in the right slot.

Gronk right-side TE and Hernandez in the backfield.

That would be unstoppable.

You're only playing four OL? I'd say when Gaffney comes on the field, Shiancoe takes a seat.

And illegal. That formation would lead to a lot of 5-yard penalties - have at it.

Oops, Sciancoe lines up on the LOS on the left, Brady goes empty backfield.

That offense could switch from power-I to spread without changing personnel and go no-huddle to take advantage of whatever mismatch the defense is presenting. Scary.

I think the Pats go alot more no-huddle this year with Brady calling the formation/play at the LOS depending on the defensive package.

Teams are going to have to score a lot of points against the Pats to win. But the jets only have to play the pats 2 games.

With Mendenhall out there is not one team besides the pats, that the jets need to score a bunch of points to win. The Bills maybe, and if Moss works out the 9ers. The rest of the teams 20 points along with a good defensive effort should leave the jets positioned for a wild card.

Belicheat should worry about fixing his defense, not improving his offense.

Actually, the Pats haven't won a Super Bowl since their offense has taken off. They were balanced in their Super Bowl runs and the D was dominant in the last SB season they won. The offense didn't really get going until the 2007 season. And the D has been slipping lately. So maybe defense does still kind of win.

The Giants have won 2 of the past 5 with great D. Green Bay -- awesome D in 2010-11. Steelers -- top D in 2008-09. Saints were's great in 2009-10 when they won, but held the Colts to 17 in their SB win.

I know the "experts" say it's an offense league now, but to me, I still see teams with great defenses winning Super Bowls.
