That was seriously the most anti-climactic Olympic torch lightning ceremony of all time, with the lamest "torch". Really? Years of planning for that? It looks like a big garbage can fire in the middle of the stadium

Paul McCartney is old, Danny Boyle sucks, and Matt Lauer is bald. And that trumped up bit with the Queen and 007 didn't make any sense.

MY NIGHT IS RUINED.

You effin relax!

The lympics are serious business. That's America's wardrobe on display out there....and we're getting laughed at. Chinese seamstresses should be embarrassed right now!

Europe just took on another $1 Billion in debt to put that debacle on display....and we didn't even get a Janet-esque nip slip!

What the heck do you expect from the opening ceremony? From what I remember, the Salt Lake one was equally awful. That's what they always are...

Oh man. That time I watched that show where that guy ran 329 feet kinda fast was sad because when they lit the candle it wasn't freaking awesome.

I just knocked out a good one over a photoshop pic of Britney Spears pleasuring a walrus. Does that count?

The opening ceremony for the Olympics is basically the Superbowl for drama majors everywhere.

The theatrics!

The spotlight!

This seemed to sum up their opinions on it:

"I couldnt care less what anyone else says or how they take the piss, I enjoyed it, it was ****ing brilliant and nailed it better than Bejing.

It doesnt matter if there were themes and concepts that didnt exactly translate, it didnt need to really, the Bejing one had loads of esoteric symbolism which you needed a degree in sociology & eastern philosophy to interpret. For anything that might of been a bit English centric it didnt matter as it wasnt on for long enough before it jumped to something else. The music smashed it as well, as unusually there was pop music used, so people could just enjoy the show for once. These things are usually full of ballet and interpretive dance and no one knows what the **** any of it really means, generally they are stilted stuck up haughty affairs, this was relaxed and even deliberately funny at times. A total success."

Does that even make sense?

Citing the fact that the opening ceremonies are always terrible, including those of the US, makes me somehow less manly than the cranky old cranks b1tching about how un-tough the ceremony is, and therefore the entire British nation, while watching the whole thing?

Right, that makes perfect sense.
